Lance, Toad, and Fred sat playing Scrabble.
"I swear Eep is a real word."
"Dude. It's not in any dictionary."
Fred nodded solemnly. "Actually it's an acronym for…"
The front door banged open as they argued. Pietro zipped through it.
Lance sighed. "What now?"
Pietro laughed. "It's been such a wonderful day. I annoyed Evan. Picked on Summers…. I even glued a toupe to Baldy."
Lance groaned. "You couldn't have done this tomorrow? I have a date tonight."
"Oh come on, where's your sense of fun?"
Toad stood up and started to walk out of the room. "You killed it."
Pietro blinked. "That's weird even for him."
Fred spoke. "He's just bummed out."
"Why?"
"There's something going around preventing anyone from singing any form of lyrics from their favorite songs."
"What?"
"We can't even put the phrases on the scrabble board. Every time we do, the tiles disappear."
"That's just…"
Before he could finish his thought, they heard screams from outside. When they went out, they saw several people yelling and cussing.
"What do you mean my daughter can't play piano? She played just fine yesterday!"
Several harried police officers tried to calm them down. One spoke up.
"Now now, we've been assured it's only temporary."
"Temporary!"
"Some classified organization has been ordered to stamp down on unauthorized use of copywrited musical notes and lyrics. A license must first be issued, then you must wait two weeks before you can sing them. I'm sure it will straighten out eventually. Until then, certain devices placed around cities will prevent you from breaking the law. It's for our own good."
Lance blinked as he stared at the chaos. "Good thing I write my own."
Pietro and Fred flinched. "Just don't sing it. We can barely tolerate you as it is."
"WHAT!"
Pietro ran away laughing followed by Lance. In the background the yelling took on a new note, as people ran every which way as potholes appeared.
In France, people discovered they couldn't mention The Eiffel Tower by name anymore.
