After they got the chocobos Riku couldn't wait any longer. He had to go see how Sora was doing. And so Tidus went down to the beach to get Selphie while Riku brought the run away chocobos back to the stables.

"You bad chocobos!" Clasko scolded.

Riku's chocobo made a warbling noise and lowered its head.

"Awww! I just can't stay mad at you!" Clasko gushed, hugging the chocobo around the neck.

Riku spared a moment to stare at Clasko before jogging to the first aid office. He all but burst in to see Sora sitting on the nurse's table. The bottom of Riku's stomach dropped out. Sora and Kairi were holding hands while they watched the nurse examine Sora's ankles.

"Hey Riku." Wakka smiled.

"Hey." Riku nodded.

"Are you ok?" Kairi asked.

The silver-haired boy just nodded and didn't look at his friend.

"Where's Tidus?" The redhead asked.

"He went to get Selphie. How are Sora's ankles, Garnet?"

"A sprain and a bruise." Garnet replied. "It will be quite painful for Sora to walk I'm afraid."

"We'll help him get around!" Kairi chirped.

Riku squashed down the jealousy inside of him and went to stand by Wakka. Garnet bandaged Sora's ankles properly and patted him on the head.

"All done." She turned to Riku. "Want your sleeves back?"

"No thanks."

"SORA!"

A blur of brunette, pink, and denim flashed through Riku's vision and Selphie attached herself to Sora.

"Are you ok? Does it hurt? You keep getting hurt! Was it Riku's fault again!?" The girl asked in one breath.

Sora chuckled and ruffled Selphie's hair. "I'm fine, it's not that bad, I know, and no it wasn't Riku's fault. Riku rescued me actually."

"How..." Selphie paused. She was going to say 'romantic' but... "CUTE!"

"Man you run fast." Tidus panted, entering the office.

"My Sora was in pain! I wasn't going to wait around for your slowpoke behind!" Selphie proclaimed.

"I'm fine, Selphie. Really."

Riku winced as the girl got a look at Sora and Kairi's joined hands. Selphie grinned widely.

"Are you two going out!?"

Sora and Kairi looked at each other, their joined hands, turned bright red, and dropped each other's hands.

"N-no. I was just worried about Sora." Kairi replied.

"Aw." Selphie pouted. "Too bad."

Riku wanted to thump Selphie. He really, really, really did.

"We should probably get home." He said instead.

"Ya." Wakka agreed. "We should get Sora home."

"And it's your turn to lug him around." Riku said, forcing himself to keep the coldness out of his tone.

"No problem. I have to carry Tidus around everywhere." The redhead teased, messing Tidus' hair.

"Wakkie!" Tidus swatted at the older boy's hands.

"Ice packs on and off those ankles all night." Garnet said.

"Yes ma'am." Sora replied.

Wakka walked over to Sora and helped the boy stand.

"Want to try and walk or should I just carry you?"

"I'll try and walk with your help." Sora replied.

Wakka nodded and left the office with Sora. Kairi followed behind, carrying Sora's shoes with her.

"I want a piggyback ride!" Selphie exclaimed, jumping on Riku's back.

The girl expected Riku to blow up, but he just held her up and walked out of the office. Tidus followed them.

The ferry ride home seemed to go on forever. Sora and Kairi chatted the whole way.

[Why's he suddenly so interested in Kairi?] The jealous voice in Riku's mind asked.

Riku sighed heavily, crossed his arms, and leaned on the railing of the ferry.

"What's wrong, Riku?"

The silver-haired boy looked over to see Tidus standing beside him.

"You look angry and sad at the same time." The blonde observed.

"I don't think my crush likes me back." Riku replied honestly.

He was surprised at himself. Why did he just say that to the biggest loudmouth ever? Tidus glanced briefly at Sora and Kairi then nodded.

"Kairi does seem...distracted."

The teen let out a sigh of relief. Okay so maybe Tidus wasn't as scarily observant as Riku first thought. Riku just shrugged and pretended that Tidus had guessed right.

"I didn't think Wakkie liked me that way either but things worked out. Maybe they'll work out for you too."

"I doubt it but I one can hope." Riku replied.

Tidus was about to say something else when Wakka walked up to the pair.

"Hey cutie." He smiled, pecking Tidus on the lips. "There's some dolphins swimming alongside the ferry. Want to come see?"

"I..." Tidus looked over at Riku.

Riku smiled to let Tidus know it was okay to leave him alone.

"Okay!" The blonde agreed, hugging Wakka's arm.

"You want to come too, Riku?" Wakka asked.

Riku shook his head. "Nah. I'm just going to stand here and think."

"All right."

Wakka took a hold of Tidus' hand and led the boy off. Selphie was already watching the dolphins ... and singing her 'dolphin song' to them.

When the ferry reached home Riku all but sprinted off the ferry. He left his friends in the dust and pedaled off on his bike.

"What crawled up Riku's bum and died?" Selphie asked, strapping her rollerblades on.

"No idea." Tidus replied.

"Take my bike home, Tidus. I'll walk with Sora." Wakka said.

"You sure?"

Wakka nodded and kissed the blonde's forehead. "Meet me in the backyard."

Tidus cheeks colored a bit and he hopped onto Wakka's bike. "Sure thing, Wakka."

"I'll come over once I check in with my mom, ok?" Kairi offered.

Sora nodded and Kairi pedaled off. The brunette smiled up at Wakka.

"I appreciate this, Wakka."

"It's no problem. Come on, I'll give you a piggyback."

Sora nodded, hopped onto Wakka's back, and they were off. "So...what happens in the backyard?"

Wakka chuckled. "We kiss until my dad comes home."

"What!?" Sora turned bright red. "Are you serious?"

The redhead chuckled at Sora's reaction. "Yeah."

Sora's blush darkened. "What...is it like?"

"Well I don't know what it feels like to other people but with Tidus...it feels nice. He wears cotton candy lip gloss so his lips taste good."

"I want a first kiss." Sora sighed, resting his head on Wakka's shoulder.

The redhead laughed. "It will come, Sora. It won't be far away if you 'n' Kairi keep getting along so well."

Sora's cheeks colored again but he didn't reply. Wakka just chuckled. He could feel the heat of Sora's blush right through his shirt.

"Just don't worry over it, Sora. When the time is right...you'll know."
