To those who keep telling me I update too slow: I'm currently working on 9 fics, 7 of which I am writing by myself and 2 that I co-author. I also manage an RP community and co-manage a yaoi community. I also RP and frequent quite a few gaming forums to give advice. Plus I have to work, I have a real life off the computer, and I have a social life. So I may update slowly, but I have a good reason.

Remember, I'm messing with the order of a few things in order for the story to go smoothly.

Sora, Riku, and Kairi were hard at work putting the finishing touches on their raft before their parents even woke up. They had all left their families notes and hoped their parents wouldn't be angry.

"There. Now it's all done. All we need is a name." Riku said.

"How about...Excalibur?" Sora replied.

"That sucks." The silver-haired teen answered.

Sora stuck his tongue out at his friend, "And I suppose you can come up with a better name?"

"How about...Ragnarok?"

"That sucks." The brunette replied.

"You could always race on it." Kairi suggested.

"Sounds good to me." Riku replied. "To the end of the beach and back..." The teen waited until Kairi had wandered out of ear-shot. "Winner gets to name the raft and share a paopu with Kairi."

"What!?" Sora gaped.

"Go!" The older boy shouted, running off.

"Riku!? Wait!!" Sora ran after his friend.

Kairi giggled as her friends raced passed her. Sora was quickly catching up to Riku. The older teen may have been better at dueling but Sora was always a faster runner than him. The silver-haired teen reached the end of the beach just a few meters ahead of Sora. He turned and headed back to where the race started. Sora wiped out when he turned, falling into the sand and winding himself slightly. By the time the brunette picked himself up Riku was already halfway down the beach. Huffing and puffing and coughing Sora ran after his friend.

"Riku wins!" Kairi called as Riku ran past her.

Sora's eyes filled his tears and he didn't stop running as he passed his friends.

"Sora!? What's wrong!?" Kairi called after him.

Riku frowned. Sora was really upset. He watched the brunette as he ran for Paopu Island.

"I didn't think he cared that much about the raft's name..." Kairi murmured.

"I'll go talk to him." Riku said.

The girl nodded. "Okay."

Riku sighed heavily and slowly walked towards Paopu Island. He'd only been joking about the paopu thing. He hadn't meant to upset Sora so badly. The teen looked over his shoulder to see Kairi making her way down the beach, looking for seashells probably. Riku sighed and made his way to Paopu Island. Sora was sitting at the base of the paopu tree with one of the star-shaped fruit in his hands. Tears were rolling down the brunette's cheeks and falling onto his shirt.

"I'm sorry, Sora. I was just kidding. I won't share a paopu with Kairi." Riku said quietly.

So quietly in fact that Riku at first thought his friend didn't hear him. He was about to repeat himself when Sora spoke.

"That's not why I'm upset."

"Then what? All this over the name of the raft?" Riku was puzzled. "We'll name it Excalibur if you're going to get this upset."

"That's not the problem either!" Sora snapped.

"Then what is!?"

The brunette looked down at the paopu he was holding. "Nevermind."

"Nevermind? Nevermind! Sora, you're sitting here crying and you tell me to nevermind!? I don't think so! You tell me what's wrong right now!"

"I don't want to share a paopu with Kairi! I want to share one with you!"

With that Sora flung the star-shaped fruit at Riku as hard as he could. The silver-haired teen stumbled back slightly as the paopu struck him in the chest and broke open spilling green juice and pulp all over the front of his shirt. He looked up at Sora but the brunette was gone, running down the beach again towards the docks. Riku stood there, dumbfounded, and watched Sora run passed Kairi and jump into his boat. Kairi ran to the end of the dock but Sora just keep rowing away.

"I want to share one with you!"

Sora's words swirled around in Riku's head and he felt slightly lightheaded. Sora...wanted to share a paopu with him? He had a crush on him and not Kairi? The silver-haired teen laughed slightly hysterically and wiped some of the paopu pulp off his shirt. He climbed the tree and picked the ripest paopu he could reach. He made sure to hide the fruit as he rushed passed Kairi and to the docks.

"Riku!? What's going on? What's on your shirt??"

"Can't explain now!" Riku said, hopping into his boat. "I have to apologize to Sora!"

Kairi stood on the end of the dock again and watched Riku row off.

All this over the name of our raft??

Riku rowed like a maniac back to their home island. His arms were throbbing by the time he reached the marina. He quickly put his boat away and jumped onto his bike. Riku hoped he'd catch Sora walking home but had no such luck. The brunette must have run all the way home. The teen put his bike back into the shed beside his house and jogged over to Sora's. The lights were off. Sora's mom was probably still asleep. Riku went around back and climbed up to Sora's room. The brunette was sitting on his bed.

Sora was breathing hard from running all the way home and quietly crying at the same time. He was glad his mother was still asleep. He didn't want to explain why he was upset to her.

I can't believe I told Riku that. He's never going to talk to me again. Kairi will be so hurt and...

His thoughts were interrupted by a tapping on the glass. Sora looked over his shoulder to see Riku standing at his window.

"I'm sorry, ok!?" He said. "You can beat me up later."

"Sora." Riku held a paopu up. "Unlock the window."

The brunette sniffled slightly and crawled across the bed to his window. He undid the latch and opened the window. Riku backed away from the window.

"Now get out here."

Sora hesitated slightly then squeezed through his window. Riku nodded and sat on the roof, motioning for Sora to sit beside him. The younger boy hiccuped softly then moved to sit beside his friend.

"Sora...you silly twit..." Riku murmured. "Actually...we're both twits. I thought you had a crush on Kairi and you thought I had a crush on Kairi."

Sora didn't bother to tell Riku that he had a small crush on Kairi. The brunette could be dense sometimes but he knew that would definitely be a deal breaker. A small smile came to his lips as Riku held the paopu out to him.

"Take a bite out of it. Don't throw it at me." The silver-haired teen teased.

"I'm sorry about that." Sora replied sheepishly.

"It's okay."

The brunette's smile grew and he took a bite of the soft yellow and green fruit. It tasted pretty good. It was sweet and sour all at the same time. The juice dribbled down Sora's chin and splattered onto his shorts. Riku chuckled at Sora's predicament and the brunette blushed, wiping his chin with the back of his hand.

"Let's see if you can do any better." Sora teased, handing the paopu to Riku.

The silver-haired teen took a careful bite out of the fruit...but still managed to get fresh paopu pulp on his shirt. Sora laughed.

"Damnit." Riku cussed.

Sora laughed again and leaned against Riku, resting his head on the taller boy's shoulder. They passed the paopu fruit back and forth until the fruit was all gone and their chins were sticky with drying paopu juice. Sora twisted the paopu's stem into a heart and gave it to Riku. The older teen smiled and admired the now heart-shaped stem.

"Thank-you Sora."

"You're welcome."

"Sora?"

"Mmn?"

"Can I kiss you?"

Sora's cheeks turned a vibrant red and he looked up at Riku. He always wanted his first kiss to come from Riku.

"S-sure..." The younger teen replied quietly.

The brunette's cheeks turned a darker red when Riku licked the drying paopu juice off his chin before kissing him. Sora's eyes closed lightly. This was pretty much how he imagined his first kiss. He couldn't hold back a chuckle as he felt Riku's teeth gently nibble on his lower lip. Riku chuckled back. He gave Sora's lip one final nibble before pulling back.

"That was nice..." Sora said.

Riku nodded. "Yeah."

The brunette smiled brightly, wrapped his arms around Riku's neck, and hugged him close. Riku buried his face against his friend's neck, hugging him back.
