Comments to: anne watched the shuttle leave, and turned away. The business meeting on L4 wouldn't take that long. Quatre would be home soon. He would have gone with his husband, but now they had another person to worry about, a child who needed him, both of them. Alicia was too young to travel. Trowa would concentrate on her needs over the next few days, worry about his own once Quatre returned.
The baby stirred in his arms, and he rocked her. "Abb will be home soon," he whispered. She opened her eyes; they were so much like Quatre's that Trowa had known the first time she had looked at him that he would find it difficult to refuse her anything. "It's okay, Alicia. Daddy's here."
Maybe they would both benefit from a walk. There was a courtyard area, and Trowa wanted time to think before he started on the journey home. Alicia gurgled happily at him from the frontpack, closed her eyes and went back to sleep. He stroked her hair, smiling.
A couple of people gave him a nod and a smile as he walked past. He nodded politely but didn't stop to talk. Quatre sometimes chastised him for his lack of manners but the truth was that today he knew that if he started talking he might not be able to stop.
/I miss you already, Cat./
Supporting Alicia with one hand he sat down on a bench seat, adjusting the straps so that she was snug against him. The feel of his or Quatre's heartbeat always settled her. Trowa's eyes were watering; neither he nor Quatre had got much sleep the night before. Trowa reached into a pocket for a handkerchief. Pulling it out, he frowned. There was a note pinned to it. Recognising Quatre's handwriting, he opened it quickly.
/My darling Trowa,
I wrote this last night after you finally went to sleep. I can still feel your touch on my skin, your breath mingling with mine as we kissed and made love.
I'm going to miss you over the next few days. I wish I didn't have to go. I'm feeling very selfish of late, not wanting to share the precious time I have with my family with anyone else.
Close your eyes, and I'll be there for you. I'm in your heart always and you are in mine. I can feel you in here, even when we're apart.
I love you. Now and forever. You are mine and I am yours.
I'll phone you when I get to L4. Tell Alicia I love her.
Yours,
Quatre/
Trowa wiped his eyes, closed them and reached out for Quatre, smiling at the answering empathic caress. Quatre always knew the right words, what Trowa needed to hear. He stood. If Quatre was going to phone them when he arrived, they needed to be there. Alicia had to have had her sleep so that she could smile at her father over the vidphone. 'Come on, Alica," he whispered, "it's time to go home." He looked towards the sky, knowing that Quatre was thinking of them, in the same way they were thinking of him. "Abb loves you, Alicia," he said. "He loves both us, and I love you both too."
