A/N: Hello. :D In an attempt to write as many kinds of fanfic as possible, here is one of my digimon stories. -le gasp- However, it's veryveryvery AU (like everything else of mine), and I was shooting for a bit more of a realistic feel to it, rather than the traditional kids-and-monsters superhero gig. Please review, even a smiley face would make me happy. Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon. If I did, Myotismon would have won everything. O.o;;
The wind picked up suddenly, and I stopped. My eyes flicked across the street, and I regretted both waiting until after nightfall to go home, and not accepting my friend's offer for a ride. I'd assumed since it was only two blocks away, I would be fine...but it was just then, only one black from my house, that I sensed it.
Something...coming my way. Stalking me. I turned, looking behind me, but there was nothing. A small hint of relief came over me, and I turned back around to finish my journey home. My blood froze as I came face to face with a wolf. No...not just an sort of wolf. It's eyes blazed a deep crimson, it's lips curled back in a dark, feral grin as I realized I could see through its midnight-furred body.
My mind flashed back to when I was little, how I would see people that weren't there. That things would explode around me sometimes. That I began talking to spirits by ten years old. And now...seven years later...I was face to face with a creature straight from my childhood fears.
"You will obey..."
The voice inside my mind made me blink, and I stepped back. "W-what?"
"Come..."
I admit it...I turned and ran, racing back for my friend's house as fast as my legs would carry me. But I knew it was in vain; ten steps in, and the creature was on me, knocking me into the pavement with a snarl. Crying out, I turned to fight it off, but I lay still as it's teeth wrapped around the back of my neck. Another low chuckle echoed in my mind, and I swallowed hard.
"Finally caught me," I whispered. My mind flashed back again. Not to this lifetime...ones before. Before the Earth was even born...
"Come."
I submitted, and fell into the pits of unconciousness.
