Pony: This is because I think something should have changed. And now it will. I'm rewriting 'Shadow of the Hedgemon' starting on page 262
Poneh: Yes, and it's not a bad twist. Ki…-is strangled by Pony-
Pony: Uh. Heh. And now with Seto for the disclaimer.
Seto: -mumbles- Neither of these Lunatics own anything by Orson Scott Card.
She held herself against him for a long time, longer then she cared to remember. And just as she thought he might kill her, he whispered something in her ear.
"You're not going to die." It was as if everything she feared had been in those words. He wouldn't let her get off that easy. He would make her watch everyone she did care about die before her. Make her help him plan the murders, perhaps. Whatever his sick mind could come up with to torture her. But she had enough of it. Pulling herself off of him, she stood up again.
"You kill everyone who see's you weak. So why not kill me as well?" She demanded, watching as he set down the gun. She calculated how fast she would have to move to grab it before he could realize. Of course, it was pointless. He made sure to keep one hand on it as if he could read her thoughts. "I was the one who made you weak. Not just saw it, I made it. And you couldn't stop it. How does that feel?" She laughed bitterly. She was adding icing to the cake. "But Achilles, did you really expect the people you killed to remember you in a year? A month? A week, even? You were no one. Just another person they met along the course of life. A life you felt important enough to take. More power to them. But it proved your weakness. The thing that will bring you down. And you know that. You know that your enemies will find you and destroy you because of your vengeance. You've laid the foundation for your destruction."
The figure on the floor in front of her remained silent. Motionless. And then he smiled. The authenticity of it revolted her. How could he smile now? How could he even look her in the face? A shiver ran down her spine and she turned away for just a second. Too long. He stood and pointed the gun at her once again.
"Come now, Pet." He said as horror overwhelmed her senses. "You didn't mean that now. We're made to be." He took a step foreword, causing her to lurch back. She fell, smashing her head on something. Looking up, she saw a gun taped under the desk she had fallen against. She grabbed it and stood up with an almost inhuman grace.
"I did mean it. And I do." She said. "But you won't have the satisfaction of seeing me squirm as you kill me. My fate is mine." During her whole speech, she had the gun pointed at his chest. In another flash of movement, it was at her own heart. She could feel the pulse quicken. She had to act now. Had to act before he could. But life was so sweet. This would be an act of selfishness. Maybe she could take Achilles out with her…But that was never an option. Even now he went closer to her. Soon, he was too close to shoot without fear of killing herself as well.
"Pet." He said. He sounded afraid. He sounded desperate for her not to do that. But she did. A loud blast sounded and her body crumpled to the floor. But not before she whispered one word. One word that made his hair stand.
"Bean."
Pony: Yes, sucky place to end I know. But be assured this is NOT the end of the series. I'll probably finish to the end of the book. All in Achilles point of view of course. He's such a wonderful person. My favorite, at any rate.
Poneh: Yeah. Many good traits. But I may write the next chapter. Which is good for me, and bad for you. –grins-
