Piper looked around, searching for some hint or sign that this moment was a dream, but it wasn't. It was the most perfect moment she had ever experienced in her 16 year old life. For her birthday, her grandmother had brought her and her sisters to New York City. You see Piper had a passion for theatre, so naturally this was the best gift her grandmother had ever given her.
"Grams, this is perfect" she said as the were walking down 42nd street. "What time is the show again?"
"For the third time, its at 3 pm" Prue spat.
None of the other sisters were too happy about being on Broadway. They all just wanted to get to the shopping. But Grams shared piper's love for the arts, so they kept walking toward the theatre. They were going to see "Hairspray", a recent box office smash.
They entered the theatre, and piper let out the biggest gasp possible "its beautiful, look at all that gold and red!"
After spending at least 50 dollars at the gift stand, they went to find their seats. Penny had spent at 100 dollars per seat for this show, but Piper was worth it. "
Thanks grams, these seats are amazing" piper practically screamed
"anything for you my dear" Penny replied
Anything was right, recently piper had fallen ill and needed a kidney, and her grandmother was the only match. The only thought that entered her mind was "when?" Piper had been much healthier since then. But still, she worried. She worried that the illness would come back. That it would come back worse this time, and take her darling away from her. She was so much like her mother. Same hair, same eyes, same voice, it was incredibly eerie. Patty loved theatre too.
Penny used to take her daughter to New York ever year for her birthday to see a Broadway show, and every time they went she would say "one day mom, I'm going to be up there" and then, one time…she did it. She performed the role of the witch in Into the Woods. How fitting? Then after that, she died from Kidney cancer. The girls were so young, that they can't remember their mother's performance. However, it stuck with penny year after year. So when "Into the Woods" was announced as the school musical when piper was a freshman her grandmother urged her to audition. Piper was always the one to please, so she did, and just like her mother, she won the role of the witch. It was like watching a recording of night of patty's performance. That's when Piper decided to follow in her mother's footsteps. She would be on Broadway if it killed her.
"Grams what's the matter?" piper asked.
"Oh nothing, I'm just too excited for my own good!"
And for the next two hours they sat there and watched the show unfold. It was the most amazing thing Piper had ever seen. They were walking back to the hotel and then it hit her, it hit her like a brick.
She turned to her grandmother and said "I can feel it, its back"
