I Wish That Were So
Summary- A lot of people think Qui-Gon had a premonition of his own death during the dinner scene in Phantom Menace. Not me, however… this is my version.
Disclaimer- Star Wars is not mine. It is George Lucas'. Jedi Apprentice belongs to Jude Watson/Dave Wolverton.
Note- Please don't flame me. I know (or at least think) the common consensus is that Qui-Gon had a premonition of his death on Tatooine. Like I said in the summary, I have a different opinion. If you disagree, feel free to say so, but please be polite. (Ex- "I don't think that's what he meant…" ect, is fine, but please no "You're dumb, that's not how it went…")
"I…I was wondering- you're a Jedi Knight, aren't you?" Anakin asked.
"What makes you think that?" Qui-Gon asked calmly. Frankly, he wasn't surprised the boy knew. He was remarkably observant.
"I saw you laser sword." The boy replied. "Only Jedi carry that kind of weapon."
Qui-Gon smiled at Anakin's word for his lightsaber. "Perhaps I killed a Jedi and stole it from him." He suggested, trying to discourage Anakin's idea.
"I don't think so." Anakin said confidently. "No one can kill a Jedi Knight."
No one can kill a Jedi Knight… Qui-Gon closed his eyes for a moment, trying to quell the pain those words brought. Tahl… of all those he had lost through his long life as a Jedi, he missed her the most.
He looked at Anakin sadly. "I wish that were so."
