Disclaimer- I own nothing

Author's Note- Well, this is my (posted) fanfic and the OC comes from another story I'm writing. This is a side story to that fic.

When he first saw her, he knew that he could never be satisfied with just learning her name. He had to understand her, learn about her, and become her friend. And so he tried, day after day. She said he was creepy and then would gush about her Sasuke-kun. She never truly acknowledged his presence but there was always tomorrow and then the day after.

When she accepted him and he really began to find out who she was, he grasped that he loved her, every single inch. Her gorgeous hair, radiant smile, the look of determination in her eyes, and even how she screeched in that loud, shill way of hers when he or Shikamaru somehow inconvenienced her. He would tilt his head to the side, smile and apologize and gaze at her when he thought she wasn't looking. He announced his feelings to her right after she finished a long tirade about how she was going to beat Big Forehead Girl and win Sasuke-kun's heart. She had stared at him and told him all ninety-seven ways why she couldn't return them. He knew compared to the heartthrob Uchiha, he didn't stand a chance but there was always tomorrow and the day after.

He spent the years vying with the numerous, faceless, hormone-ridden males for her affection, even though sometimes it all seemed pointless. She would simply look at him with tired blue eyes and explain to him for the millionth time how Sasuke was the only one for her. He would listen to her cry on the nights she missed having Sakura to talk to and how Asuma, Chouji, and the new guy were keeping her from becoming the Chuunin she so desperately wanted to be. Then when she achieved that rank, he would comfort her when a mission had gone badly. He had been ecstatic when she proclaimed that Sasuke wasn't worthy of her time if he didn't acknowledge her and had started dating. He consoled her when she broke up with Katsushi, Shura, Honda, Shinji, Julian, and even that weird Hyuuga guy. He would and did anything he possible could for her. And yet she rolled her eyes at his proclamations of love and told him it wasn't going to happen, but there was always tomorrow and the day after.

Now he was here, sitting on the left side of the church wondering what he did wrong. There she was, radiant angel dressed in white. He had never expected this development. With all her other boyfriends he could tell himself that they weren't good enough for her, that they didn't know her like he did, and she would figure it out eventually. But this…He couldn't even begin to kid himself that Shikamaru didn't love her. After all, when he wasn't with her he was, whenever he was being a nuisance he would listen to her rants, and it seemed that when he wasn't paying attention he had stolen her away. He shook his head and returned his gaze to the altar. They exchanging vows, one hurried last minute sentiments and the other laboriously found heart felt words. His heart squeezed painfully in his chest, but he found he couldn't look away.

It was then, when she looked at him with eyes shining with something that could only be described, as pure, undiluted love, that he realized he would, could never have her. He smiled his bittersweet smile and gazed at her softly. That didn't mean he would stop loving her for there was always tomorrow when she could realize how much he loved her. Tomorrow…and the day after.
