A/N: This is my first fic, so please go easy on me. Navi hateing people be warned, I only wrote this because I see a total lack of Link x Navi fics out there and I feel like I should remedy that. I shouldn't have to elaborate as to what's going on any more so… Let the Story Begin!
Disclaimer: I don't own Zelda, 'cause if I did… I'd have a lot more money than all of you! So there!
The Worth of Love
-Prologue
Slowly, as the light faded around him, Link opened his eyes. As he glanced around at the familiar stone walls of the temple that seemed incased in time itself, Link let go of his blade.
'Finally.' Link thought to himself, 'Finally, my quest has ended. I am no longer needed as the Hero of Time.' The small, green clad boy tuned his back on the blade set into a small stone pedestal, and began to walk away. He had barely gone ten feet, when he began to feel something he had not felt since before the beginning of his arduous quest and hoped never to feel again.
Cold. A cold so subtle that its presence was never known until it was taken away. A cold so powerful, it would chill the soul beyond anything that the mind or the body could ever experience. Link had known this cold for ten years. It stade with him during the night and would send shivers down his spine. It had eaten away at his soul until that fateful day. The day the Great Deku Tree had called him to save Hyrule.
Growing worried, he searched his mind for the reason of the cold's sudden return. After a few moments, he finally noticed the complete lack of any presence near him. "Navi!" Terrified, he ripped off his hat and searched around the room in a rush of fear laced adrenaline. "No," he murmured in a hushed voice. "No, this can't be true. Navi! Where are you!"
Slowly, one inevitable fact sank into the boy's mind. Navi was not with him. The one who had been his only companion during the long years of his quest, who had kept him in the realm of sanity through the chaos of it, who had saved his life countless times, was not here. As this realization hit him, the former Hero of Time stopped his fruitless searching, leaned onto one of the walls of cold stone, and cried.
His body shaking slightly, Link lowered himself to the floor. "I never even got to say goodbye." This was the last that could be heard from the boy, before his grief overcame his conscious mind and he fell into a freezing darkness.
A/N: Sorry for the shortness, I intend for the next chapters to be much longer. I don't really have a whole story thought out yet, so this could go anywhere. If you want to flame me, that's okay as long as you give me a good reason as to why you hate this and what I should do to make it better. I will kept a list of evil flamers. That being said, REVIEW… please.
