Familiar Pain
She always insists that he is the only one for her. But she can never look directly at him, he smiles and says that she is his forever. And they both pretend not to notice that their smiles don't reach their eyes. They were destined for greatness, separately, with other people. She a highly successful recording artist, he a NBA star. But those other people broke their hearts, shattered them really. So they cling to each other,because their familiar, because maybe if they say that they are each other's only one then maybe they will finally believe it. People expect them to be together, the ones they really love have forgotten about them long ago. They are now the wash-outs, the has-beens, the forgotten ones. They stay together because at least then they have an identity, without each other they are just another face in the crowd of has-been celebrities. Because without each other, she would have just been Haley James, once Scott, was once married to Nathan Scott the NBA superstar, divorced at 24 for her once best friend Brooke Davis, supermodel, who was also married to Nathan's older half brother Lucas.
