A/N: I got this song stuck in my head when I was writing the epilogue for "Terms of Devotion." Then the story-bug bit, and wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote this down.
I didn't write the pairing, so you could have it KD, KN, KC, or whatever you like best. (You know, like when they sell hats and stuff and the tag says "One size fits all.")Please R and R. -L.O.B.
Disclaimer-I don't own Kel, the sparrows, or the words to Amy Grant's "Baby, Baby."

Baby, Baby

Kel leaned down over the cradle. Her tiny daughter stopped crying at the sight of her face. Kel grinned and gently lifted the baby into her arms. She couldn't believe how much she loved the baby, although she was just a few days old.
Baby, baby
I'm taken with the notion
To love you with the sweetest of devotion
Baby, baby
My tender love will flow from
The bluest sky to the deepest ocean
Stop for a minute
Baby I'm so glad you're mine, yeah
You're mine
Nari and some of Kel's other sparrow friends flew in through the window. They chirped happily when they saw Kel, sitting in a small wooden rocker next to the cradle. She had just finished nursing her baby. Kel pulled the blanket from her daughter's face so that her winged friends could meet the baby.
The sparrows chirped happily and settled down in various spots across the room. Some even found the dried cherries and seeds that Kel had set out.
Kel grinned, happy that her sparrows were with her and the baby.
Baby, baby
The stars are shining for you
And just like me I'm sure that they adore you
Baby, baby
Go walking through the forest
The birds above a' singing you a chorus
Stop for a minute
Baby they're so glad you're mine, oh yeah
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize that there's just no getting over you
Suddenly, the sky drew dark. Rain fell from the sky, and a loud clap of thunder rang out, startling Jump from his nap at the foot of Kel's bed. The baby stirred and started to cry.
Kel stood and pulled the shutters closed with one hand. Then she lit a candle and placed it on the bedside table. She climbed up on the bed, nested into the fluffy pillows.
As Jump and the sparrows cuddled close, Kel rocked the baby and hummed soothingly.
Baby, baby
In any kind of weather
I'm here for you always and forever
Baby, baby
No muscle man could sever
My love for you is true and it will never
Stop for a minute
Baby I'm so glad you're mine
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize that there's no getting over you.
It didn't take long before Kel had rocked the baby into a deep sleep. Even in her slumber, Kel's daughter's fist didn't loosen it's grip on her fingers.
Kel's heart skipped as she looked down at the baby. She was Kel's.
When she was born, Kel had been overwhelmed by the realization that she her daughter forever. That she had never felt a love so great. Kel felt as though her heart had only just begun to beat.
Kel pulled her forward for a kiss. The baby scrunched up her face and yawned.
Kel smiled.
Baby, baby
Always and forever
Baby I'm so glad that
Here for you baby
So glad you're mine
Baby I'm so glad that
When I think about you it makes me smile
Baby, bay be mine
Baby, I'm so glad that
Don't stop giving love
Don't stop, no
Baby I'm so glad that you're mine
Baby I'm so glad
Baby I'm so glad that
When I think about you it makes me smile
