Title: They Want Her
Disclaimer: Disney owns Ice Princess.
Warning: Kinda femslashy. Kinda not.

Casey has gotten used to the fact that the Harwoods want her. Each family member wants her for different reasons, sure, but all three of them want her.

Teddy wants her for kisses, sometimes, but most of the time he wants her because she is the perfect girlfriend for him. She is pretty, and a good-looking guy like Teddy only looks right with a pretty girl at his side. She's smart too, so Teddy can feel like he's with her for deeper reasons than that she has a gorgeous body. Finally she is driven, and perhaps that is the most important reason of all. Teddy had learned a long time ago that driven women were easier to understand. Their desires were simpler. Teddy wants Casey for all these reasons. Casey doesn't mind. It's not true love, but she is young and pretty yet.

Gen wants her for an excuse. She keeps Casey around because she allows her to be herself. She can say she's going out to the movies with Casey and go to parties instead, and Casey's pretty so she's a socially acceptable companion. Casey is smart too, and so she helps Gen pass her classes. Gen can spend more time doing what she wants that way, and the work part of schoolwork is not exactly that. Finally, Gen could never have escaped her mother's grip without Casey. Casey is driven in a way she never was, and that drive allows her to fit into that little gap in the mother daughter relationship and allow it to be whole again. Casey doesn't mind being Gen's substitute. It's like a balanced Chemistry equation. Substance Gen replaced by substance Caseyplus Figure Skating Coach equals Gold. Casey's too smart to mind being a substitute, especially when gold is something she wants.

Tina wants her for validation. She wants this pretty, smart and driven girl to seize the glory she had never achieved. She wants her to fix her failure as an athlete to win, her failure as a mother to understand her own daughter and her failure as a human being to be humane. Casey's success as a figure skater will prove the worth of Tina uncompromising and morally bankrupt drive towards winning. But the one thing that makes Casey the perfect clay to mold, is that Casey is uncompromising herself. She won't let Tina compromise her ethics. Casey's mother did not fail in that regard. Casey loves her mom, but she doesn't mind that Tina wants her to win the gold, because she wants that too. She's driven that way.

Teddy kisses her because he's her boyfriend so he can do things like that, and besides, Casey doesn't mind. Gen kissed her once or twice, but that was because she was drunk. Tina just watches her skate.

Casey knows the Harwoods want her, and maybe their reasons aren't so different after all. They want her because she is pretty, smart and driven.

A/N: You know, I liked Ice Princess more than I give it credit for in this fic, and probably Casey is less calculating than I have depicted her. But then again, maybe is she's more. Because really, you'd have to be pretty driven in order to put so much of your life into the hands of someone who'd betrayed you. Finally, blame for this fic must go to my friend who commented that the whole Harwood family has a strange fixation on Casey. I call them Caseysexual or Caseyphiles if you don't like the femslashy or agesquick angle.
