Ice: I figured I'd try my hand at a Full Metal Alchemist story with one of my poem/rants. I don't own anything. Here goes.
One night after going through paperwork on the Philosopher's stone, Edward Elric sat back and reflected on everything that had happened to them. Not every memory was good, but it was proof they existed.
I'm losing my grip
And I'm slipping beneath the waves
Someone save me
Before the nightmare drowns me
It all started that fateful day. It seemed normal enough until we got home, thought Ed. They never expected to see their mother collapsed. Later that day, she passed away. All their troubles started after.
I've been swept away so many times
This could be the last time
If only I could hang on
If only my grip was stronger
Failing attempts to bring her back almost claimed their lives as well. Al lost his body and Ed had lost an arm and a leg. I'd give anything to trade places with him if it would make it easier to bear, Ed thought. He still couldn't believe he had been able to pull off the soul transmutation.
I still feel as if I'm falling
Falling into the unknown abyss
Darkness creeps all around
It's like a blanket only it's pulling me under
Al had carried him to the Rockbell's next door. Later, a state alchemist had shown up. All because of him, Ed had been driven to become one and find a way to return their bodies to normal. Once fitted with automail, they left to become state alchemists.
I feel my self emerge only to find a cliff
The cliff of life and death
The cliff I'm hanging from
My grip weakens
Since they had a bit of a detour, they were almost late for the train to Central. After being told to go home if they didn't take the early train, they hurried aboard. I never thought he would have set us up for that, continued Ed with his thoughts. It was a good thing it happened, but what if something had went wrong. Thankfully, nothing did.
As I hang from the cliff
I feel dizzy
Will someone save me
Before I'm lost for eternity?
Once at Central, they stayed with Shou Tucker and his daughter, Nina. They stayed there to study for the alchemy exam. Everything went well and Ed passed the exam. Although, Tucker's assessment was coming up as well. He was known for creating chimeras. He just had a bad habit of using those close to him. Nina and the family dog, Alexander, had been used to create a chimera just like Tucker's wife had been 2 years ago. Nina and Alexander had been killed later that night in an alley.
I know the fall seems a long way down
Maybe it's not so far after all
I won't know unless I let go
I don't mean to but my grip is slowly weakening
After her death, Ed and Al were forced to go through Tucker's research. Thanks to that, they started the hunt for the Philosopher's stone. Al picked up information from the fuhrer. Then the wild goose chase started. Three years, no luck, and assessments coming up, Ed was desperate to find a way to get more information. The upcoming assessment became a battle with the colonel. Figuring he was hiding something, the wager became the information. As luck would have it, the match was a tie and the Flame Alchemist decided to talk. With more information to go on thanks to Roy Mustang, Ed had sought out Dr. Marcoh. Now with his research, they were just as lost as ever.
Just when I feel myself slip and let go
Someone grabs me
Are you the one who will save me?
Do you still believe?
I still want to believe we're closer. At least for Al's sake, I have to believe, Ed thought as he flexed his right arm as he looked out the window. We have no place to call home for a reason. Going back means we give up. I can't do that.
Ice: I hope it sounds good. Does to me anyway. Please review!
