Part One: Long Day
Police Commissioner Barbara Gordon was tired. It had been a long day, after a nightmare-filled night. No super villains had made an appearance in Gotham, but a fair share of robberies, muggings, and other petty crimes kept the department busy for most of the day.
But now it was almost time to head home. Barbara knew that Sam was not going to be there; he had called her earlier and said that he was going to have to pull a late night preparing for a case the next day.
Sighing as she finished with the last of her "paperwork" (though little was still done on paper), an email popped-up on her monitor. Another report from the morgue, this time about a John Doe brought in earlier that day.
Barbara had heard a mention of it, but had pushed it to the back of her mind. It had sounded like a gang-related homicide, a couple of Jokerz fighting against each other. While normally the Jokerz were united in their own particular brand of mayhem (particularly aimed at either the GCPD or the Ts), that didn't mean that they always got along. Leaders of the different gangs of Jokerz would sometimes come to a head and people wouldn't always leave with a smile on their face.
But as Barbara read the report it quickly became evident that it was anything but normal.
to be continued...
