He never said goodbye when he went offworld. He merely walked through the wormhole. Nor did he ever say goodbye when he left a room, he just sauntered off. Oh, there were rare times when he mumbled a "see ya" before casually strolling away, but those were few and far between.
When he had walked through the gate on PX4-6642, he hadn't said goodbye to anyone. There wasn't reason to. He was coming back. He was, after all, immortal.
Three days later, they were back, dialing home. He was first through. But Daniel wasn't really Daniel. And it was Shivershakepanic cold and far and alone. And Jack knew he'd have forever to say goodbye.
