A/N: Just a short little one-shot that popped into my head. Nothing marvellous, but I think it's sweet all the same! A review would be appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read!
An excuse
"You left this on your table."
Ginny Weasley looked over her shoulder at Draco Malfoy. Her eyes fell down to what he held in his hand. It looked like an ordinary quill.
"That's not my quill," she told him. She had just exited the library after studying there for about two hours.
"Oh, I know that. I just wanted an excuse to talk to you," he replied and flashed a smile at her.
Her eyes nearly popped out at this statement.
"Oh," was all she could think to say. He had a rather pleasant sounding voice when he didn't use it to snarl at people, and come to think of it, his eyes, his whole face even, shone with a happiness she had not seen before. She liked the way he looked at her. She could feel small tingles forming all over her body.
"So…"
"So…"
"What are you doing later today? Are you going to Hogsmeade?" Draco asked her rather nervously, even if he did try to hide it.
"Nothing, I was actually intending to stay here today…"
"Oh."
"… but if you'd like to come with me, I'd be happy to go!" she went on saying after he had interrupted her.
"I'd like that." He smiled at her again as both of them went down to the Great Hall, unaware of the commotion that they had set in motion.
