Chandler stared blankly at his computer, afraid even to type in that four-letter word into the search engine and press go. He didn't want to see the results.
He needed to see the results.
He needed to know if he'd be responsible for his dad's death.
Okay, so Chandler didn't need the help of the Internet to know that his dad's contraction of AIDS couldn't possibly be blamed on him, but it sure felt like it was his fault. He had cut his dad out of his life, ignoring any attempts at reconciliation, andlast week, reluctantly opening one ofhis dad's annual letters at Monica's prompt, his life was changed forever. His dad's life was changed forever; maybe even coming to an end.
Not maybe; definitely?
Chandler had never felt the need to learn much about the disease before; AIDS was something that happened to other people. Unlucky people, famous people, people that you try hard not to look at on the subway. Not anyone he knew; not anyone he cared about.
And, despite everything, he cared about Charles Bing. Loved him, even if he couldn't or wouldn't like him or get to know him.
He didn't mind the "wouldn't" so much; that was his own battle to fight. But "couldn't"; that was something he had no control over. Would his father die before Chandler could get to know him?
This was where google came in.
