Infinite Ryvius: The continuing Journey

This fanfic is set after the series and is a continuation of the story of Infinite Ryvius. I'll do my best to keep all the personalities of the characters as accurate as possible. I'll try to update regularly. I'm also looking for pre readers for future chapters so if you're interested send me an email at class navigator Ikumi Oze awoke with a start. The sound of his ragged breathing easily drowned out the quiet snoring of his roommate Kouji Aiba, also a second class navigator. The nightmare was a familiar one; after all he had been suffering from them ever since he left the Ryvius the first time.

It started in the control room of the lift ship after the battle with the Vital Guarder Geist. Ikumi held the only gun on the Ryvius to the head of his friend. Kouji merely stood there, smiling a small smile, doing his best to convince him to surrender. To save everyone. All the while his grip tightened and the pressure on the trigger mechanism slowly increased. Finally the gun went off, only this time Yuki Aiba didn't move to protect his brother. The needles buried themselves in the head of Kouji. The smile vanished from his face and was replaced with a look of shock. He slowly fell back until he hit the deck. The last sound that Ikumi heard in his nightmare was the anguished screaming from Kouji's girlfriend Aoi Housen.

As he sat in his bed trying to regain his breath he quickly resolved to apologise to Kouji again. Kouji had already forgiven him for that but Ikumi still felt guilty.

"I'll talk to him tomorrow." He glanced at his roommates bunk. "If I don't I'll go insane." Ikumi rolled over and tried to get some more sleep. Hopefully without being interrupted by more nightmares.

It had only been a few days since the Ryvius departed from the earth. Since then the new system had been hashed out among the crew of the Ryvius. Learning from the mistakes of the past, complete updates of all decisions made on the bridge were posted on all the terminals in the Ryvius. Problems with trust were not to be repeated.

A small security force was established on the ship, surprisingly under the command of Airs Blue. The former gang leader taught a group of volunteers the basics of self defence and sent them out to patrol the ship. It was obvious that this was necessary; after all it's impossible to completely eliminate crime. The group was only a dozen members strong and excessive force was strictly forbidden.

This may have caused a problem with some people until the most moderating of influences, Kouji Aiba, stepped forward to endorse the idea. After relating the story of the scuffle he and Ikumi witnessed when they first came aboard, the idea became much better received. In order to set the minds of the rest of the Ryvius crew at ease he volunteered to be the overseer of this force in addition to his regular duties. Finally the grumbles ceased.

Another big surprise was that Blue accepted these restrictions with only a shrug and a nod. Many believed it was out of gratitude to Kouji. After all Blue owed Kouji after he saved Blue from the manhunt that gripped the Ryvius after his apparent betrayal.

A fully staffed medical bay was a new thing for the Ryvius. The only adults on board the ship were a female doctor and two nurses. It was hoped that this would be temporary as Criff and the other nursing students were studying hard to become fully qualified medical personnel.

Neya became a far more common sight in the halls and corridors of the Ryvius. People became used to her presence and she made more friends among the crew of the Ryvius.

Of course knowing the Ryvius this peace and quiet couldn't last long.
