Author's Note: This is my first stab at writing an FFX fic, so reviews are much appreciated...just don't be TOO harsh on me, aryt? The original characters will make their appearances later in the story, promise. :)
Disclaimer: No matter how much i want them to, all characters of FFX do not belong to me.
Rain kicked her boots off the table and made her way to the bar's exit.
"Leaving so soon?" Aris, the bartender, called after her.
Rain shrugged. "I don't feel like it tonight." She said in response, pushing her way through the crowd and stepping out the door.
The cold night air whipped through her chocolate brown hair, the moonlight illuminating the blonde streaks running through it. All around her, the machina city of Zanarkand was alive with light and sound as always. On any other night, Rain would be inside the bar still, knocking back a drink or three, or dancing until the sun came up at the newest club.
But this night was different.
There was something wrong, and the worst part was that Rain couldn't figure out exactly what. But she felt, very strongly, that something was coming to find her.
Without really thinking about it, she started running down the lit streets, her short, white skirt billowing around behind her, not really knowing where she was going.
Rain.
Someone whispered her name softly, but she didn't listen.
Rain.
She felt that the whisper was getting closer as she ducked into an alley, quickening her pace.
RAIN.
This time the whisper was so loud that it resonated through her brain, blocking out all other sounds in the sleepless city.
"Aaargh!" she cried out as she stumbled, landing hard on the pavement. Instinctively, she clutched her thigh , and found that it was bleeding.
Get a grip Rain. She told herself.
She sucked in her breath, fighting back tears, and looked up.
"Rain."
This was it? This was what she was running from?
It was a small child, barefoot, and clad in a purple robe that hid his features. He knelt down beside Rain and reached for her hand.
"Why do you run?" he asked calmly. "You'll only hurt yourself…"
He took her palm and placed it on her bleeding thigh. Rain gasped as a white light emitted from her hand. And just like that, the pain went away. The wound was healed.
"Thank you…" she breathed.
"I didn't do it." The child replied, in the same placid voice. "You did."
"What?" Rain stood, finding that she was at least two heads taller than the boy.
"It's time Rain." He continued. "Time to go back."
"I don't understand." She muttered.
"It will be you." He said.
Then, Rain's entire world began to spin, until she was floating through empty space, tiny pinpricks of light in all directions before her. The boy's figure, the only thing that had maintained a little clarity, seemed to fade.
"You will be the one…to stop the dreaming."
That's all i got right now, but it gets interesting, i swear! haha...just tell me how im doing, so i can work your criticisms into my writing. :)
