This is my first fan fiction story, only a one shot but stories are not my strong point.

Remember when it rained

I know you're gone
I watched you leave
I always thought
That it was me
You made it clear
With that last kiss
You couldn't live a life
With maybe's and what-if's

And now I know why you had to go alone

When every road
Has had its say

Call out my name.

A lone figure stood upon the dock staring across the sea. The figure stood silently thinking in their mind with memories playing like a film. Like when his Nana when she left to the grey havens. Without thinking the figure raised their hand and started rubbing their thumb over a tiny green leaf about their neck.

He remembered standing with his family as they watched their Nana disappear into the trees of Mirkwood and how before she completely disappeared from view she kissed her hand and touched her heart and sent her arm out towards them and how they all touched their own hearts in acceptance and how all of them had tears flowing down their cheeks. Their Ada then made his way to his study to battle with his emotions whilst Estelas, Lauron, Telithia and Legolas made their way to the graveyard and thus to their great grandfather's tomb and how he had rubbed his fingers over their mother's own name: Lauressa. Then from eldest to youngest they each carved their names into the granite as an ever lasting reminder of the family tradition. They then silently made their way back to the great hall.

Suddenly there was cry from a gull and Legolas was brought back to the real world.

"So you are alive then laddie" a gruff voice teased from behind. Legolas span round to see Gimli with a slight concerned look in his eyes.

"I'm sorry Gimli, I was just going through some memories in my mind" with that Legolas once more turned to the sea and the now fading sun.

"Of the war of the ring?"

"Nay, nigh on 2 mellenia before that, about my family ..and…. the time when my mother left for the grey havens."

"That is the first time you have ever spoken of your mother, What is that you were thinking about?"

"Well it was mainly that soon I will be with her again, after I swore to not leave Aragorn till his last breath I ignored the call of the gull's. But now………."

"Now you finally can see her again and your family." Gimli finished for him. Legolas slowly smiled sadly down at him.

"Yes, now the last of the Mirkwood children can join his family. Soon we will all be reunited once father sails over and Lauron."

"Why has Lauron not sailed already?"

"He pledged to stay with father until he chose to sail"

"Now we should also set sail, now that you have fulfilled your oath to Aragorn."

After a long pause from Legolas where he whispered to himself and sang and finally said out loud "Remember when it rained". Then a gull called yet again and this seemed to make Legloas' mind up and they headed for their grey ship..

"Yes Gimli let us sail for they are calling, let us sail to the rest…….I'm most eager to meet my new sibling." With that Legolas turned and started heading to their ship. It took awhile for it to sink into Gimli, Legolas' words.

"What new sibling?" Gimli shouted after Legolas, when he got no reply.

"Oi pointy ears"

Legolas still didn't reply and Gimli started after him.

"Get back here princling"

And so the last two members of the fellowship passed into the west and into legend and myth.
