Chocolate

Summary: Darien has always liked Serena, seen her as the one he wants to marry, and now he's finally found out the way to her heart. :Theme 1:

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters, merely the plot line (But you can steal that if you want)

Girls fawn all over chocolate and until now I've never understood why. I have been told many reasons as to why ranging from 'It's just their substitute for good sex, if you see a girl with a boyfriend that is eating lots of chocolate, you know that the sex either ain't happening or not good at all', to 'They think it's the epitome of romance' and finally, 'The colour reminds them of a mud bath'.

Now, however, I know the real reasons. In laymen's terms, it makes them happy.

You might be wondering how I discovered this amazing piece of information and simply, I just asked.

Serena is, well, the girl that I one day hope to marry. She makes me smile at any time of day and her hair, just her hair can make my heart beat a thousand times faster and my stomach jump like the acrobats in a circus. I might sound like some gushy, romantic, gay guy, but I assure you I'm not. I'm merely in love with someone who hates me and thinks I hate them in return.

Anyway, many of the times that I've seen Serena she was drooling over some piece form of chocolate food, and yesterday finally gathered up the courage to ask her why.

She looked at me with this really strange but cute expression on her face and told me that it simply just made her happy and that any guy that she would ever consider dating had to know how to cook chocolate cookies.

And that is the reason why I find myself in the kitchen covered in flour and cocoa powder with the smell of baking sugar coming from my oven. For years I've been trying to find some way to show her I care, and now, when I least expect it, I have.

Serena was sitting alone in Crown Arcade when Darien sidled up next to her.

"Hey um, Meatball Head…"

Serena looked around angrily to find him holding a basket of chocolate cookies right under her nose.

"Wow, thanks Darien, I didn't know you cared."

And she gave him the first genuine smile he'd ever seen.
