Timeline: During Tales of Symphonia
Summary: A quiet conversation in Hima precedes a shocking discovery...
Author's Note: This is set during the game, right before the first visit to the Tower of Salvation. This is also slightly AU, seeing as such a big revelation wouldn't occur so early in the game.

It was a quiet night in Hima, and everyone was sleeping soundly, with the exception of one Lloyd Irving, and his traveling companion, the mercenary Kratos Aurion. The two were sitting side-by-side just outside the inn, watching the beautiful night. Lloyd seemed to be entranced by the stars, while Kratos would occasionally glance back at Lloyd.
After a time, Lloyd asked, "Why is it you like me so much?"
"It is merely concern for your safety," Kratos replied. "You are my apprentice, and it is only natural for me to be concerned about you."
"I'm aware of that fact," Lloyd said, his tone sounding slightly annoyed. "But you always seem to be watching over me. The Professor never showed this much concern or... dare I say... love for me."
"Perhaps I should tell you a tale," Kratos said, turning his gaze back upon the stars.
"Once upon a time, there was an angel of Cruxis, one of the Four Seraphim. He had brilliant blue wings, auburn hair and brown eyes... he was well respected amongst his fellow angels, and well-loved by his friends. One day, this seraph descended upon Sylvarant, where he met and fell in love with a woman from one of the human ranches. After a time, this woman, the angel's lover, gave birth to a boy, who they named Lloyd.
"However, a few years later, the woman was killed, and their son was lost. The seraph returned to heaven to live his life with the other angels, never to see this world again. And to this day, the seraph mourns the loss of his son, who he cherished so deeply... perhaps someday, his son will be found."
"Wow, that's a really amazing story," Lloyd said, looking at Kratos. "I wonder if it's true."
"We shall see, Lloyd," Kratos said, allowing the slightest smile to cross his face. "We shall see."

The next day, the group headed to the Tower of Salvation, where Colette would regenerate the world; however, after a time, they discovered Colette was merely being used as Martel's vessel. They fought off Remiel, who cursed them to the very end... and that was when Kratos betrayed them.
He had sparkling blue wings, auburn hair and brown eyes... and he was a seraph of Cruxis. Lloyd noticed that these four things all tied in with the tale he had been told last night.
No, it couldn't be... is Kratos... my dad?

Author's Note: I love Kratos and Lloyd fics. But only when they're just a lighthearted father/son thing, not all that romance people have come up with. Eugh.
