Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
Planned In Hell
The Great Wizarding War (GWW) was raging on. Gaining momentum since Dumbledore was murdered at Hogwarts, the supposed safe-haven of the Wizarding World, Voldemort and his supporters were more confident. Staging attacks on muggles and wizards alike. The Ministry was overworked Obliterating muggle memories. It was never-ending. A Wizarding Army was set up and student graduating from Hogwarts enlisted. There were not enough though. Conscription was tossed around but never introduced. Those graduates who had proven themselves would enlist for Auror training. It is at the Auror Training Academy that we catch up with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger who both graduated from Hogwarts four years earlier.
Hermione rose early in the morning now, as did Harry. It had been programmed into them both since they had joined the Auror Training Academy. Sleeping in was a luxury no one could afford in these dark days of war. The room that the two shared was stark except for a single photo of the Golden Trio which was no more. Ron Weasley the last member of the trio was currently residing in the Psyche Ward of St Mungo's. An attack on his family had left him permanently scarred mentally and physically. He was forced to watch the brutal murder of his mother and younger sister and was then tortured until his mind could no longer stand it. Ron spent most of his days now staring blankly at a wall, rocking back and forth, mumbling under his breath. Speaking of things no one could understand, staring at things that did not exist except for in his mind. Hermione and Harry visited as much as possible but were not able to get any sign of recognition out of Ron.
Auror Training was brutal if you were not strong enough. It was mentally and physically challenging. Trainees were not just expected to be able to duel magically but also physically. Even though they were trainees, the dwindling number of recruits meant that they were often sent out into the field. However they were bonded with a partner and all missions were done in pairs. The pairs lived, ate, breathed and trained together. While training they would mirror each others moves, usually unconsciously. Hermione and Harry were both top of their class. They could practically read each other's minds. They were both strong in both mind and body. When there was no mission to be fulfilled, Trainees' days were military. The trainees rose early, had a ration breakfast, then sparred and had physical training. After lunch was magical duelling and Legillimacy and Occlumency (sp? I don't have my books with me) lessons, all Trainees had to have this perfected before being allowed out to the field. If they were caught, the secrets of the Light side would be known to the Dark side. The Trainees also needed to have a basic Healing knowledge. Healers were rare out in the field as they were usually the first people to be struck down. Everything was clockwork.
All wizarding people knew that the GWW would end one day, they just hoped that it would not be Voldemort who came out on top. Many people were loosing hope though, too many of the Light side had been lost and the Dark side was growing in strength everyday.
I know it's short. I'm sorry but this is gnawing at me and I really need it out of my mind before I go insane. Review please.
