He opened his eyes.
He looked around.
He was on a beach. Everyone was crying, and screaming. He saw some plane wreckage.
It wasn't a dream. As much as he wanted it to be a dream, it wasn't. The plane had crashed. So he slowly got up, wondering how he could have possibly survived. He felt a few cuts on his face. He slowly walked around, his eyes still on the plane. Flight 481. He couldn't help but wonder if Ethan had survived. Probably. He was practically Superman, at least to him. What big brother wasn't. He had to find him. He picked up his pace, and soon began to run.
"Ethan!" he shouted. "Ethan!"
Finally, he saw him. They embraced.
"Didn't think you would make it, Ian," said Ethan, looking him in the eye.
"Me neither. I would have never expected anyone to make it," he said with a sigh.
They both looked at all the people that had survived. There were many of them. Too many.
"How long do you think we're going to be here?" asked Ethan
"Huh. I don't know. No more than a week, probably. What about you?"
Ethan only shrugged.
After awhile, the screaming eventually stopped. A man named John and some other people helped build a fire. Then they all fell asleep, knowing that someone would rescue them in the morning.
But no one ever came. Slowly but surly the number of the survivors…dropped. So they began to hunt. They rarely heard "The Security System" Then, one day, when John, Ethan, and Jake were hunting, Ian, and a few other people, heard a strange…noise. Everyone first looked up, then at each other.
"Was that…the security system…?" asked Ian.
"I don't think so…" said Carl.
"It sounds familiar," another person commented. Ian thought so too. Then he realized where he had heard it before.
"I've heard it…in my…dreams," he said. He had been having some very strange dreams since they had crashed. Many people nodded.
"Me too," Kyle said softly.
They all just sat there deep in thought for a long time, until Ethan, John, and Jake came out of the jungle.
"Did you get food?" asked Carl.
"What? No!" said Ethan. They were all breathing heavily, as if they had been running for quite some time.
"We found something much, much more important than…food," said Jake.
"Did you find…a way to get off the island?" Ian asked.
"Yes. No. Yes and No." Ethan then took a big breath. "We know how to get off the island; we could, anytime, anywhere, but-
"There's no way in hell we're getting off this island" John said softly.
Ethan nodded. "Right."
Two years later, a ship crashed. One of the survivors was pregnant. Everyone watched. They watched as an illness spread, and they watched as the pregnant lady, Danielle, killed them. They watched as she gave birth to the baby, by herself. No one ever saw them watching. Awhile after that, they abducted the baby. They learned her name was Alex by listening to Danielle wail…every day and night. They of course learned Alex was a girl, and were originally going to give her back, but decided not to. Alex grew up, never taking that terrible, haunted expression off her face. She didn't know the secret. And neither did Ian. He never wanted to know.
16 years later, another plane crashed. Ethan had gone to investigate. When he came back, he said "Someone's pregnant. Another one is a doctor. One's a hunter and tracker. But trust me, they all have secrets." So they took the pregnant lady, and tried to kill her friend in the process. It should have been ok. But Ian made a mistake. He looked into the girls eyes. Then he released her.
The rest was all a blur. He remembered Ethan dying, and after that, he joined Alex in an almost dead state. He saw black smoke. Alex did too. She must have remembered something about it, because she completely freaked out. Then they all got on the boat to go kidnap the "boy". Then, they did. Then Ian made another mistake. He looked into the boys eyes.
He had been the one who had freed Claire. And he planned on freeing the boy, too.
