Leftover Cookies

Lily Potter sat pensively at her scrubbed kitchen table munching on a leftover Christmas cookie. It was three days into the New Year and she had just discovered she was pregnant. Her common sense was battling with her newfound maternal instincts.

"I can't believe I'm pregnant!"

"Do you really want to bring and innocent child into the world now!"

"I wonder…boy or girl?"

"What about all the death? Destruction!"

"It doesn't really matter, as long as it's healthy."

"Are you listening to yourself! You're pregnant!"

"How am I going to tell James?"

"You-know-who could kill James-and you-any minute! Listen to yourself!"

"What color should I paint the baby room?"

James walked into the kitchen and joined her at the plate of cookies.

"James, I have good news and I have bad news."

He looked at her.

"I'm pregnant."

James whooped, seized her, and swung her around the room.

He stopped suddenly, paled, and asked her, "What's the bad news?"

"I'm pregnant…."

"Wait- wasn't that the good news?"

"I can't decide. What do you think?"

"Lily, it's great news. Is it a boy or a girl?"

"You're stupid- I have no idea!"

"Oh, well, when is it going to be born?"

"Late July, early August."

"Okay," he paused, "Wait 'til I tell Padfoot!"

Okay, that's it. Reviews, as always, are welcome.
