"I'm writing to you to say"

So I thought I'd write you a letter, because I'm too scared to tell you face to face. And I think I'll mail it instead of just slipping it under your door. So maybe I'll be gone when it arrives and you find out it's from me and what it means. Maybe I'll write a poem too and seal it with a kiss.
I wouldn't have to do this if you weren't so damn naive. If you could only understand the looks I gave you. If you could only understand I only tease you, because I think you're cute when you get angry and flustered. But it's all of these things that I love you for.
Yes, I love you. Hard to believe, I know. But it's true. Obviously, or I wouldn't be writing this letter. Sure there are some big factors that keep us apart. Like society for one. Who could accept seeing us together? Walking down the street, hand in hand, kissing out in the rain and… Sorry I was getting carried away.
Age is another thing. You're young to begin with, and then there's me, 10, 15 years older than you. Time isn't on our side, and it can't be turned back. No matter how much alchemy we use, I can't make you older and you can't make me younger. Sorry, carried away again getting into my philosophic views.
But you didn't know I like philosophy did you? You don't know much about me at all. You force yourself away. You strain to keep the distance between us large. You don't want to get to know me. You want to live your life thinking I'm an arrogant basterd who hates you. And you return those feelings of hate just as strong.
I don't even remember why I was writing this in the first place now. You got me so agitated in that last paragraph that I can't remember wanting to tell you anything else than I love you. Or maybe that's all I wanted to say, I can't recall. But just know this, no matter what comes between us; no matter how big of a fit you throw when you read this, no matter what you say to me, do to me (or throw at me) I will always love you. Although I don't know why.
