Jordan couldn't believe her eyes. The cute and charming, albeit naïve, mid-western farm kid had finally made a move.
There we go. Now that's the Woody I've fallen in…no, I'm not. I can't be.
Seeing the shocked look on her face, Woody fumbled to explain. "Jordan. It doesn't mean anything it's…it's just a ring. I doesn't have to mean anything."
Finally Jordan broke her stupor. "Woody. Oh, Woody, I. Thank you. Thank you so much!" She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek.
Woody's eyes were big and he had a goofy smirk drawn across his face. He finally managed to get out one word, "Coffee?"
Jordan smiled as he slipped the ring onto her right hand. "Of course, Woods."
Jordan nudged Woody's shoulder as she slipped by him into the hallway. In an instant he was right next to her. Just as he was about to put his arm around her, Jordan tripped on the strings of the balloons Woody had left outside the door. With a slight shriek, Jordan finds herself in Woody's arms looking up into his eyes.
With a slight chuckle, Woody helps her get upright and wraps his arms fully around her. "I think I'll bring fewer balloons next time." He drops his arms, leaving one around her waist.
"I don't know, I kind of like them." She slips an arm around Woody and they walk off down the hall.
"I wonder how they get the little balloons into that big one. That'd be great to know. The little balloons are very cute. Maybe the little balloons are inflated while inside a deflated big balloon. Err…I'm rambling sorry." She felt her cheeks flush.
"It's alright. It's cute." Woody gave her a little squeeze.
The pair took the walk to the café in near silence. Jordan began to feel herself noticing things that she hadn't before. The sky seemed bluer, the sun seemed brighter, and Woody's arm around her waist seemed warmer and more comforting than ever.
After a time that was too short to be satisfying, Woody and Jordan entered their favorite café. Nudging Jordan ahead of him, Woody sighed. "Maybe I'll have a latte."
Jordan looked puzzled. "A latte? But you like your coffee black."
She knows me so well. Maybe better than I know myself.
"Well…I've tried one new thing, so why not another?" He gave her a ring a little glance. "Then again, maybe not. Well, maybe. I can't decide."
"Two coffees, black." Jordan took some initiative.
Woody handed the barista some money, never taking his eyes of Jordan. "Sorry about that. I'm just nervous."
"Don't be." Jordan grabbed the coffees and lead him to a table in the corner.
"Jordan, there's something I should tell you." Woody gulped.
"Woods, there's something I should tell you too. Let me go first." Jordan felt her cheeks growing hot.
"No. I need to say this."
"Woodrow…" Jordan gave him a mock glare.
"Alright, alright. You go first."
"Woody, I love you. I have for, I don't even know how long. I'm just so damn insecure. I didn't want to mess things up. But now, I feel like I won't. I feel like I can say that I love you and not be lying to myself or you. And it is true, Woody, I do love you." Jordan couldn't help it. She poured her soul to him. Tears began to roll down her cheek.
"Jor. Jordan. Don't cry. I love you too. I always have. I have since I first met you. Don't cry, Jordan, don't cry. I love you. I love you." Woody slid over to her, taking her in his arms.He kept mumbling over and over again, "I love you. I love you, Jordan. I love you. I love you."
Burying her head in Woody's chest, Jordan sighed. Once she sat up, Woody dried her eyes. "There, all better?"
Jordan just nodded.
