He sat there, tears streaming down his face, watching the building burst into flames as their last words they shared echoed in his head. "Take her and get out."

"I'm not going to leave you Syd."

"Yes, you are. You are going to take Julie, walk out of this building and not look back. You have to do this Gage."

"How am I suppose to do that Syd? I need you in my life I am not going to let you go."

" I love Gage, always remember that."

The last words he heard before he was dragged away from her.

Few Days Earlier

"Alright Gage, that's the last of my paper work, what about you?" Sydney smirked as she watched her partner continue to work on his stack of papers. "Looks like an early night for me."

"Funny Syd, real funny." Gage grumbled.

" Well Gage, if you have actually been working on your paper work, instead of putting it off, you could be going out to play with the rest of us." Sydney collected her things and started for the door. " Remember, Walker wants us to be at the ranch around 1:00p.m. tomorrow."

"Not a problem Syd, I will pick you up around 12:30. That is if I am finished with all this work." Gage said as gave her a pitiful look.

"Alright, well if you aren't at my place by 12:45, I will know you are still working here and I will just go on without you. Have a good rest of the night Gage." With that she switched off her lamp and walked out the door. Gage just shook his head. He should of known better. There was no point of trying to get Sydney to feel bad for him. He watched the door close behind her and continued to work on his stack of papers.

Gage continued to work till he closed his last folder. "Finally, I'm done" he said to an empty room. He reached and turned off his lamp and got up to go just as his phone rang. Seeing Sydney's number appear on his cell phone he picked it up. "Yes Syd, I got it all done."

" I was just calling to see if you had."

" Well since I am done earlier than what both of us thought. How about you treat me to dinner and a movie."

" Me treat you?"

" Yeah Syd, I have been slaving away endlessly on paper work."

" Oh I'm sorry, am I suppose to feel bad for you? I'll tell you what Ranger Gage. I will meet you at your place in about an hour. Then I will buy you dinner, and then you can pay for the movie."

"Alright Syd, sounds good to me. I will see you in an hour." Gage hung up his phone and headed for home.

An hour later Sydney was at his door. I'm comin' Syd, just give me a sec." Gage opened the door. " Alright Syd, I'm ready, lets go."

" Where did you want to go for dinner Gage?"

" I'm up for anything. I'm starved, but let me buy."

" No, I told you I would buy so dinner is on me. Pick a place and we will go there."

" Alright, I'm not going to argue with you." Gage followed Sydney out to her car. Just as they were about to climb into her car they heard a familiar voice.

"Francis?" Both Gage and Sydney turned to see Julie stand there with three men all pointing guns at her.
