Shadows

"Hiei."

The ice-fire love child turned and looked down at me. For a moment, I was awestruck by the innocence in his sleep-filled ruby eyes. Then I realized that he's staring intensely at me.

What's that? Did I have something on my face or something?

"Uh…Hiei?"

He blinked and I quickly hid my embarrassment.

"Hn. What do you want?"

That voice, so deep and mesmerizing, made me want to drown in his essence. Uh-uh, can't space out now. Keep on track, Kurama. What did he say? Oh, yes…

I smiled as innocently as I could and replied nonchalantly. Then before he could give a full reaction, I climbed up to where he is and sat down beside him. His eyes widened a slight fraction and then he gave his typical answer, wringing a smile out of me yet again.

I turned to where he was looking and almost gasped in awe. The sunset in Ningenkai is indeed beautiful. But still, I thought wryly, not as beautiful as the fire demon beside me.

Discreetly I turned to look at him. He looked preoccupied with something and as I watched, he leaned back slightly, putting his left hand on my right. Yeah, right, I dream. Well, at least it was the shadow of my right hand.

For a moment, Hiei's eyes seemed to brighten before resuming his stoic expression. Or maybe it was just my imagination. Either way, I could not bring myself to care.

Right now, I have to plan on how to replace my hand's shadow with the real thing.

short, isn't it? well, at least it had made its point. now, tell me i'm plain nutty, anything at all, just review, damnit!
