My Heart Will Go on-

Chapter One:

Theresa looked down at the pile of papers in her hands, and reached forward throwing them into the roaring fire in front of her. A tear trickled down her face as she watched them burn, piece by piece. She pulled the thick, blue, blanket over her frail body. She used to have a reason to live, a reason to want to wake up in the morning. Now she had this. She had lost everything and gained nothing, and the worst part was, it was all her own doing. Now here she was, right back to where she'd started from. Except it was different, she was under Alistar's control, lock and key.

Ethan and Gwen had her children, the most important part of her life. Ethan wanted nothing to do with her and Gwen let her know it. Theresa wrapped the blanket across her shoulder as she walked over to the wooden patio, that overlooked the yard of the Crane Mansion. She had become so accustomed to the beautiful flowers and fountains, to this whole empty, hollow building. Her own ignorance and foolishness is what kept her bound here, in this prison cell. She was the prisoner, Alistar the jail keeper, he had all the cards and he knew it. He was the only person who could give her what she wanted, and that's the only reason she stayed.

Theresa gently closed the sliding door, as it glided effortlessly on it's polished guide. She felt chilled in the flimsy, satin, baby blue nightie Alistar had given her to wear. Her heart ached as she listened to the "mood" music drifting down the hallway. Memories cut deep within her, as she remembered the nights she had sat in her bedroom, hearing the noises coming from the room next to hers. Only this time the people making the noise were different.

She collapsed on the bed, her tiny frame sinking into the big, plush blankets that lined and covered the bed. All she'd wanted was someone to love her, someone to care for her, someone to protect her, and someone who wanted her for her. But when she did seem to find love, it seemed to vanish as quickly as it had came. Ethan, Fox...

She knew her dream of being with Ethan was never going to happen, and she was never going to have the perfect life she had visualized. It wasn't even what she wanted anymore, she wanted the one person who had truly loved her for her. He had seen the worst of her and still stuck by her even, when he could have easily walked away. Even though he hadn't loved her in the way she'd wanted, he had cared about her, she knew that. Fox had loved Whitney, her best friend, and now he was with Kay.

When they had been together they had both been trying to get over other people and were secretly in love with other people. They'd wanted different things, specifically other people. She had been naive to think that she could use Fox to get over Ethan. She had been naive to think she'd magically fall in love with him. No, that had happened later...

Theresa lifted her face from the mass of satin and silk pillows, each embroidered with different designs and patterns. It seemed a difficult task, now to just get up and move. She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten, her rumbling stomach a distinct reminder. Looking in the mirror, she didn't even recognize herself. Her once smooth hair now, a mass of tangles, and her eyes seemed so dull. There was nothing to her, she had lost her spark, her zest for life, and there was no way she could redeem herself. Alistar had robbed her of any pride she had left, and her heart was smashed to pieces. She had sold her soul to the devil, and there was no way out.

Theresa stiffened as she heard the dreaded sign. Knock...Knock...Knock
