Ch. 8- The Disappearing Thingie
A/N- ok, im sry that this is so late, I wuz at camp! Pleez keep reviewing! Any questions, just ask:D
"Now, " Aubrey said. "Let's pretend that you really want to reach that tree over there. See it? Good. Now, picture it in your mind…that's right. Okay, take a deep breath, and direct yourself to that tree."
Throughout this tutorial, I nodded enthusiastically, but I was so excruciatingly pining for some blood, that I didn't really hear it. So, when he finally stopped talking, it took quite a while for me to register that I was supposed to actually do something. Whoops. I stared at him blankly.
Aubrey sighed and then simply explained, "Tell yourself to go to that tree without moving your legs."
Uh…sure? So, I closed my eyes and pictured myself at the tree. Was something supposed to happen? I cracked my eye open a bit, and saw that Aubrey was not as close as he was before! Had I moved? When I saw the tree next to me, I yelped with joy. Aubrey smiled, before disappearing.
Now, what about that human? I willed myself to a forest, where I tapped into a human's mind. I didn't need instruction; it was just too easy to slide over the glass walls that presented themselves in the human girl's mind. I compelled her to walk outside unaccompanied. Come on, come on, just a little closer…. Yes! She seemed startled to see herself in my company, but before she could turn around, I had her arm around her and my words in her mind. Sleep.
The taste of her blood filled my mouth. It was tangy, and had a slight metallic tinge, but it was also sweet and thick, and so seductive that I could barely pull myself away. When I finally did, the girl was chalk white, but she would live, that I knew.
Satisfied, I went to find Jager, when an angry looking vampire appeared in front of me.
"What do you think you were doing?" she spat.
Taken aback, I didn't know what to say, "Uh…." This vampire did not have an especially strong aura, how I knew what was that was I have no idea, but I could tell that she didn't like it that I was here.
The vampire's eyes narrowed. She opened her mouth to speak, but stopped after looking behind me.
Startled, I debated whether I wanted to know what was behind me. Yes. No. Yes.
I was still debating when I heard Jager's voice…coming from behind me. I shook my head. Why was I so frightened? After all, now I was the thing that went bump in the night.
"Ather, " Jager said. "Calm down. She's new."
He made it sound as though I had just joined a club or something.
"Tell your fledgling to keep out of my territory!" Ather spat, eyes narrowing.
"Fala!" Jager exclaimed with false cheerfulness. "Do yourself a favor and stay out of Ather's territory, okay?"
Silently, I nodded.
"Good, now that that's settled, come on Fala."
After we had walked a bit away, with Ather seething behind us, Jager said, "So, how was that human?"
When I replied with a blank look, Jager looked pointedly at me.
"You did catch a human, didn't you?"
"Well yeah, " with just a tad of arrogance. "I mean, it's not all that hard," I grinned.
Jager chuckled, "Okay then." Then he looked less confident. "Um…do you think that you'll be alright if I leave you for a while?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
Jager wouldn't meet my eyes, "I have some business to take care of in Greece. Do you think you'll be okay by yourself for a while?"
"Well, " I was uneasy with the thought that Jager wouldn't be there to save me for a while. "How long will you be gone?"
Jager shrugged. "About a month or so. Maybe more."
There was a brief silence, before Jager peered into my eyes, "So, will you be alright?"
What could I say? No, Jager, I need you to be here to save me from all the mean vampires. I almost laughed out loud at the thought.
"I'll be fine, Jager. Really." I added when he looked unsure.
"Okay then, " he said. "I'll miss you, Fala." With that, he kissed me softly on the mouth.
I was left on my own…
A/N- ok, that was a sorta ew chappie, but I had to put it in there. After all, Fala needs to have a chance for part of an "embarrassing past" and I had to get rid of Jager for that part. R/R! thankx to all the ppl who hv already reviewed!
