Wow, it's been a gazillion years since I've written fanfiction. Since I've written anything, really. OK. I watched Advent Children the other day. This is the result of a 1 AM conversation, and contains a sort of spoiler. Sort of, kind of. Not really.Besides, it proably makes nosense plot-wise, but who cares? It was fun to write (more fun than the Media class i was in when I wrote it). Enjoy
Also, as someone kindly pointed out, I forgot the giant label that reads: CAUTION, MAJOR AU AND OCC AHEAD! Stupidly, ridiculously, insanely OOC. And a disclaimer: I am responsible only for the retardation of the characters, not the characters themselves.
Kadaj stared at Yazoo and Loz, bickering among the other guests—people he had expected to come and people he hadn't. His gave wandered aimlessly to the pile of brightly packaged gifts, and the atrocious-looking cake that Loz had picked out, all rainbows and bright splashes of color. It did not look particularly appetizing. None of this did – the laughter, fueled by sweet red wine, the pointless mingling, the whole atmosphere, a waste of time when Kadaj wanted only one thing.
He sighed quietly, blowing a few silver strands of hair out of his eyes. He hated the pressing feeling on his chest and the relentless nagging voice that, night and day, only asked for one thing.
"Kadaj," said a quiet voice behind him.
In the fraction of a second that it took him to spin around, he realized that everyone had grown quiet and were watching him with drawn eyebrows and parted lips.
A head of gold hair greeted his curious eyes. Smooth skin, almost sickly in it's paleness, and huge, deep eyes. Brother…
Kadaj said nothing, but acknowledged Cloud silently. He noticed the package in his small, delicate hands, wrapped in blue paper sprinkled with silver stars. He tried to look as if he didn't care. The nagging voice in his head remained quiet.
"I…" Cloud looked down miserably. "I'm sorry, Kadaj. I should have been a better brother. I…. Here." He pushed the gift into Kadaj's hands.
Kadaj looked at him, speechless. These were words he was not expecting. The entire room was silent as everyone's eyes darted back and forth between the two.
Kadaj looked down at the box, spinning it around in his hands, weighing it, wondering what it could be. Slowly (although his heart was beating with anticipation) he peeled off the tape and let the wrapping slide to the floor.
His feline pupils widened. The box he held was black and smooth. Yellow tape with the word "Seal" was wrapped around it, hiding the crack Rufus' bullet had made. Mother…
Kadaj looked up to skinny arms throwing themselves around his neck, a streak of golden hair, soft skin like a kitten's ears against his. And so warm, he wanted to stay there forever.
"Can't we start over, Kadaj?" Cloud's voice was as gentle as always.
"Of course we can…" Kadaj smiled, his own arms closing around Cloud's waist. "…big brother."
