Note: I don't hate any of the characters, or any pairing in particular I just prefer SasuNaru, so please don't take offence to what I say. This was a dribble challenge so I hope you like it.
Why did he choose Naruto? Maybe it was the old saying opposites attract, but that didn't seem right. Was it that there was no one else like Naruto? If you looked at it from the latter perception, it did make sense. He was never into older men or women, or younger for that matter, eliminated over half of his choices. He wanted someone who could take care of themselves, so that eliminated all but eleven. The rooky nine plus Gia Team, yes Gia team was older but he could deal with that age difference. So with eleven choices why did he choose Naruto?
Neji was out of the question, he was dealing with his own inner demons and could not help him with his own. In the end they would both be lost into their own blackness. The only they he knew about Tenten was that her specialities were weapons that wasn't enough to start a relationship. Lee was just Lee, he could deal with Naruto being hyper, but Lee he would probably kill within twenty minutes.
Kiba, was also hyper to the same extent of Naruto. But in order to have a relationship with Kiba you had to have a relationship with Akamaru, and he wasn't willing to go that far. Shino was to quiet. He himself was quiet, but not to that extent, he needed some noise in his life. Hinata was just to innocent and kind. He could never taint her with his own evil deeds.
Shikamaru, was a great conversationalist, but he wanted someone who would spar with him who would help him grow stronger, with Shikamaru he would be the one asking to train. Chouji was the same in that respect. Ino hid a lot about her personality to make herself seem more appealing to him. He wanted someone who was not ashamed to show the world who they were.
Now he had two choices, his own team. If not for Naruto, he could see himself falling in love with Sakura. At first she was annoying, too weak to even notice. As time went by and she grew stronger and more conscience of the world around her, he started to see her in a new light. But that light made her seem like a younger sister someone to confine in, not someone to fall in love with.
So now theirs was Naruto, he was the light that helped him chase his demon away. He knew more about him then he knew about himself. Hyper but not too hyper, loud, but not too loud, sure to love him you had to accept the Kyuubi, but you didn't have to like that thing. Innocent and sweet, but someone with the same amount of blood on his own hands. Always encouraging him, and willing to spar. Though he hid some of his loneliness and feeling he was who he was and lived by that. His best friend, his rival, his Naruto.
