New Realizations

Hiei awoke to a glaring light in his eyes, squinting and grunting as the sun shined towards him. Rolling over, he noticed he was in a bed, a rare occasion for the Koorime. Accustomed to his tree, the soft mattress felt good on his overworked yet toned body. Wait. There was someone else here. Oh. My. God. he thought as he noticed it was his beloved kitsune alongside him. Was... this a dream? dominated his mind as he stared in disbelief at the soundly-sleeping fox.

As Kurama stirred from his sleep, he sensed someone watching him. Wondering who, he rolled over and immediately saw a blushing Hiei. Smiling, he spoke, shattering the demon's reverie. "Good morning Hiei. Sleep well?" the stunning youko said. "Uh..mm... um..." unable to form coherent sentences, Hiei struggled to respond. Feeling a long, elegant finger press on his lips, the fox silenced him and they met in a kiss. Hiei was still quite shocked from the initial surprise, and the kiss didn't help that much. Hiei allowed his friend to enter his mouth, and Kurama eagerly accepted the invite. As they parted in a few moments, Hiei stared with a questioning look on his visage. Kurama caught it early and answered. "Hiei, why are you so tense? You know I care about you, and I know you feel exactly the same for me."

Hiei quickly stopped fighting himself over his thoughts and squeaked out a reply. "Gomen, fox. I... I hadn't expected for you to ever return my love for you. I have always been too ashamed to admit it. Your reputation as Youko got to me and I didn't want this to be a one night swing, of which you are legendary for. Do you... truly return my love?" "Of course Hiei. I would never drive you away or leave you. I care too much and would never want to hurt you. Don't think for a second that I lie right now." "F...fox. Arigatou Kurama."

"Aishiteru Hiei." Kurama whispered in his lover's ear late that night.

"Aishiteru mo kitsune." Hiei replied. "My kitsune." he added with a smile.

The pair gazed into each other's eyes for hours, kissing passionately every so often, until they drifted off into sleep, hoping the next morning would be just as ecstatic as this wondrous day had been.
