~Beginning Again~

I knew I was asleep. Things aren't this peaceful when you're awake. But nothing peaceful ever lasts. Living with two rowdy boys has taught me that. Suddenly Dmitri burst into my and Link's tree house and jumped on top of me snapping me out of my peace.

"You big oaf. Get off!" I yell so that Link rolled out of bed and crashed to the floor with a thunk. Dmitri didn't get off right away. I know by what he was doing that he was trying to make me lose the feeling in my legs so I couldn't chase him. I had to give him credit.

Link untangled himself from his sheets and pulled Dmitri off. I got up and hit Dmitri in the arm. He immediately started rubbing the spot where I struck.

"Ow Saira!"

"Serves you right" I said rubbing my legs. They had that prickly feeling like needles are poking you.

"What time is it?" Link said groggily pushing his frizzy blonde hair out of his face.

"Uh, 11:00" Dmitri said

Link started looking around and being the responsible sister I am, I grabbed his hat off the poster of his bed and handed it to him. I'd give him that for his 10th birthday a few months before and he'd worn it everyday since.

Link and I shared the same birthday so it was always a fun day except the argument over who got to choose what to do. I usually won by pretending to cry. His reply was always the same

"One day that wont work," he always said

But I'm pretty sure I can pull it off until I'm ten. Right now I'm six years old, Dmitri is seven and Link is ten. Link is allowed to leave the forest but he promised to stay until I could leave too. For the past few months, Link, Dmitri and I have been planning a trip throughout Hyrule. We want to see everything it has to offer and experience more than most would dream.

"C'mon you two, I finally found them," Dmitri said dragging me out of bed

I knew exactly what he was referring to. For almost a year now, Dmitri had been looking for Skull Kids who are kids who used to be Kokiri children but they got lost and never came back. Now I didn't have the heart to tell him though that not long after my birthday I found the Skull Kids and they helped me learn the forest.

"I cant. I promised to go see the Deku Tree," I said closing a curtain around my area of the tree house Link and I lived in. Living with a boy and having a boy as a best friend has its disadvantages such as no privacy. That's why I was happy when Vienne, Dmitri's other, put up the curtain for me. Dmitri didn't understand but I wasn't about to explain.

"You're missing out, Saira. I found them. I found the Skull kids"

"Well, if I don't go see the Deku Tree, I'll never master this one healing spell and I wont be able to help you the next time you try to kill yourself"

"Hmph" he said

"Do you need any help getting past that ingrate, Mido?" Link asked very protective of his little sister.

"No, I think I can manage"

I headed out passing many of the Kokiri Forest inhabitants. I got along with the majority of them but Mido and a few of his friend always tried to make my, Link, and Dmitri's lives miserable.

Dmitri was a Hylian as far as I knew but Link and I thought ourselves Kokiri. It's just we didn't have faeries. And sure we looked different than most but that had nothing to do with it. I walked up to the path Mido was guarding and stopped crossing my arms.

"Well, well, well. Back again"

"Let me by, Mido"

"You're a fiery little thing. You can't go see the Deku Tree unless you prove your worthiness"

"Mido" Someone said behind me. I recognized that voice at once. Mido started blushing furiously as Saria joined me. He fancied her. She knew it. I knew it and we often took advantage of that to get me past him.

"S-Saria. Hi" he said removing his hat politely.

"The Deku Tree protects us. Not the other way around. Let Saira by"

If there was one person who could get something from Mido without needing to punch him in the face, it was Saria. She was definitely a favorite among the village and a good friend to both Link and I.

"C-certainly" he said. I thanked Saria, picked up my bag and went down the always creepy path to see the Deku Tree. I always smiled when I reached the comfortable shade his branches and leaves provided.

"Ah, young Sairalinde. It's good of thee to come"

"You might want to think about hiring better security. Mido tends to get all mushy"

A deep chuckle came from the tree

"Sairalinde, in a few short years it will time for thee to depart from our fair wood. Thee and thy friends"

"What? Why?"

"There is more out there for thee. A destiny awaits another and thee will be needed"

"Huh?"

"Thee, Link and Dmitri have a future away from here. You and Link have fulfilled your purpose in this life but Dmitri must find his courage"

"What? Kokiri cant leave or they'll die so what help am I?"

"But thou art not a Kokiri. Thou are Hylian and thou brother"

"That's why we don't have faeries isn't it?"

"Aye but do not discourage for thou hast never been in need of one. Thou are your brother's faery"

"What about Dmitri? How will he find his courage? And what did Link and I do?"

"That can only be seen by the Hylian Seer. That clever girl is the only one who can direct him"

"O...Kay" I was so confused but decided not to question it.

His bark face smiled then he and I sat and discussed magic like normal. But I couldn't help but notice a stagger in the Deku Tree's speech and a minute discoloration. I said my goodbyes for the day and made sure to give Mido a quick kick since he was sleeping at his self appointed post. But then I ran straight for the Lost Woods hoping to find Link and Dmitri.

I saw them while on my to the Sacred Forest Meadow where they sometimes went to see Saria. That was an interesting place because that's where the Forest Temple was. The sages from long ago took refuge in them and people flocked to them to pray. Nowadays they were dangerous or were turned into something else. The Forest Temple lay dormant, empty and unused.

I found them behind some bushes watching the Skull kids dance. I brought out the wooden flute they'd given me then started playing. They took a look my way and smiled before running past Link and Dmitri and pulling me onto a stump to dance.

I looked at my brother and Dmitri. It made me think about the talk I had with the Deku Tree. He never said Dmitri was Hylian but as I danced, I pushed that thought out of my mind. They watched in shock then finally I grabbed Dmitri and made him dance with us.

To my surprise he was very good. Link was pulled up by one of the kids. The music stopped and I fell back pretending to be exhausted knowing the one of the Skull kids would catch me.

"Hey guys. Meet the Skull kids. Or some of them" I said after they pushed me upright.

"How do you know them?" Dmitri asked

"Danu and Sam found me when I got lost a few months back. Ever since I've come to make music," I explained

"Friends of yours Saira?" They asked. Interesting thing about the kids is that their mouths hardly moved when they spoke.

"Yep. Meet Dmitri and my brother Link"

"Friends of yours are friends of ours" Danu said. He was the taller of the two and thinner. His voice was deeper than normal too. Sam was shorter than me and wider than most, but his voice was higher that didn't suit him until you spent a little time with him, and then it seemed normal.

"Come, come. The trees to bring that one" Sam cried pointing at Dmitri.

"Me?"

But Danu and Sam grabbed us and started leading us and started leading us through the forest. We reached the labyrinth of bushes to the Sacred Forest Meadow and they continued to pull us. Deku Shrubs didn't dare shoot at us. I'd used magic on them one to many times and also they were friends with the Skull Kids.

I didn't quite understand what they meant by the trees telling them. Saria often told me that they spoke just like the Deku Tree but I'd never taken the times to try and listen. But why Dmitri?

After getting through we ran up the long hall of stone steps. At the top I saw the stone Temple platform and the broken stair to the Forest Temple making it inaccessible to most.

"Here, here. You see? You see?" Sam said to Dmitri

"See what?"

"Do you not see?" Danu said

But as I looked things started to swirl and I began seeing images. It made me dizzy and I grabbed onto Dmitri.

"Oh, she sees, not he" Sam said "Why then, why he?"

"Why he what?" Dmitri demanded

"The trees say she sees but it's your turn. Link and Saira proved their worth but the new threat comes and you must be the one. She will help. She's never done"

"Huh?" all three of us said

But they said no more and refused to whenever we asked later. I found it odd that the Skull Kids were saying about what the Deku Tree had said too. We all went home confused. I decided I would ask the Deku Tree again tomorrow. We all went to Dmitri's house to eat. Then Link and I went home. To Link's disapproval I slept out in a hammock on the balcony. Dmitri would usually sneak out when Vienne and Stu were asleep and come sleep with me.

And it seemed the moment I heard Link snoring and the lights from Dmitri's house across the way went out, a few pebbles were thrown up at me. That was what Dmitri always did to say he wanted me to sneak out with him.

I looked down at him and smiled and his moonlit face. I grabbed a piece of string and tied my hair back before I climbed down.

"Where to tonight?" I asked. "The triplets? Mido's place? I just finished a potion of bubble solution"

"No, this is a serious issue. I need to talk to the Deku Tree but I've never gone near there and I need you with me"

"Mido's ten times worse on security at night and Saria's not around to make him move" I said

"Isn't she though?" he said slyly. I knew what he was getting at. I was a good shape-shifter.

"No" I said

"Don't make me use drastic measures"

"Like what?"

"I'll tell Link about your little Gerudo syndrome. Don't think I don't know you've been stealing stuff"

"Maybe that's because you're the one who was right there with me teaching me what to do"

"I have other ways"

"Like what?"

"C'mon Saira, please just do this for me"

"Fine" I sighed

I ran my hands through my hair, and then waved them in front of my body so that I morphed into Saria. Then we headed over to the creepy path where Mido was standing guard.

"Wait, how do I get by?" Dmitri asked

"You didn't think this through to well did you? Ugh, I'll keep him looking at me for a bit and you'll sneak past"

Dmitri separated form me and I went over to Mido. He quickly stood up and removed his hat smiling nervously.

"H-hi Saria"

"Hi Mido" I said with false niceness

"Do you want by?"

"In a minute. How was your day?"

I must have stood there for give minutes listening to how many people he'd told off. He failed to mention when he told me off since Saria was my friend. Finally Dmitri starting creeping by. However he tripped on a stray root and landed with an audible thud. Mido spun around but I spun him back before he saw anything and to keep him from turning around I kissed him. Once I saw Dmitri dart off I went too. Once out of sight I gagged and spit and pretended I was dying a horrible death. I rubbed my tongue and spit some more

"You owe me and you owe me big, Dmitri Alone!" I hissed unable to get rid of the taste. He was obviously a fan of spicy food. Yuck!

"Oh, I love you Saira"

"Saira?" A deep voice rumbled

I smiled and looked up at the forming face on the giant Deku Tree. Dmitri cowered behind me. He'd never been to see the Deku Tree even though he'd lived there for nearly his whole life.

"Hello Great Deku Tree" I said casually sitting down and leaning back so I could get a better look.

"Thou hast brought someone"

"Yes, this is Dmitri and he has a few questions"

"I know of thou, Dmitri. Thou art here because of the Skull children. They told thou too soon"

'T-told me what?" Dmitri stuttered

"Thou hast a journey before you but now is not the time. The Hero of Time hast earned his rest. The Seer's life is forever going I'm afraid but twas her choice."

"You confuse me Deku Tree," I said

"I have no answers now. Things have no unfolded enough for me to give thou a proper answer. Come back in a few years"

The Deku Tree's face disappeared and they stood still confused. I had a feeling we wouldn't get any better answers but at least he gave us a time to go back. Well sort of.

"Hero of Time? Seer? Journey?" I said, "I think we've got quite a life in store"

"C'mon let's start now. A feel a ruckus coming on"
