Zora's Domain

We packed everything up and put it in my magic bag. But I put it on Link.

"Hey, what're you doing?"

"I carried it here. Now it's your turn. Not only my stuff is in there you know"

He didn't argue but he made sure to scowl. We walked over to the temple ruins and jumped in the water. I handed them both a pocket of the Gilia plant and we all ate it at the same time. It was vile. It felt like everything was sticking together and the taste was like when Dmitri tried to cook. I sank underneath but it didn't seem to have done anything.

Link and Dmitri looked at me under the water and shrugged. Then a nauseating feeling swept over me and my lungs started burning. I opened my mouth to scream but as I took in gulps of water I felt fine.

My boys continued to struggle and I tried to use sign language until they understood. Link got it right away then grabbed Dmitri and forced his mouth open. When we could all breathe Link held his hand out and I took it. Dmitri grabbed my other hand and Link led us into the dark tunnel.

I was tired of not being able to see after awhile so I muttered a spell though in the water all you saw was bubbles. A small light bead gave us enough light to see a good ways ahead. Link smiled at me and we were able to go a little faster. We finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel and my bead vanished. I noticed it was getting harder to breathe.

Course we'd been swimming for at least an hour or more. We reached the end and now my lungs were burning again craving oxygen. We saw the surface and Link pulled me hard so I tightened my grip on Dmitri's hand so that we all broke the surface. We took in deep breaths and they pushed me on the shore before I helped pull them up.

After finally catching our breath I took a look around. It was like a giant cavern. A huge waterfall was a little ways in front. Most of the place was in water but there were ramps and cave openings. The walls reflected off the water and created weird light designs and were quite mesmerizing.

"Where are we?" I said though much of it seemed familiar.

"I think its Zora's Domain" Link said "I read something—"

"You read?" Dmitri interrupted

"Okay I heard Saira talking about it"

I smiled proudly until Dmitri muttered 'loser' under his breath. I smacked him hard in the arm and smiled again as he scowled at me.

"If this is Zora's Domain...where are the Zoras?" I asked

But then something poked me in the back. I looked to my sides but saw Dmitri and Link lift up their hands. I mimicked then stood up with them.

"Turn around" a smooth angry voice said

We did and five extremely tall Zoras peered down at us with their black eyes. All stood with long spears pointed down. They were abnormally tall and I had to crane my neck. The closer I looked I saw how scaly their skin was with its white luminescent color and bluish green freckled areas. Fins hung off their arms and behind their legs. I suddenly felt insignificant and little. Link pushed me behind him and Dmitri.

"Who are you?" the Zora asked "How did you get in here? Only messengers of the Royal Family are granted access and the knowledge of the Zora Tunnel has been lost for years."

Words escaped me. I couldn't think of what to say and I was the diplomatic one and probably our best chance of getting out of any trouble but I felt as if a stone was stuck in my throat.

"Link, Saira, and Dmitri" My brother finally said

The Zora blinked his eyes but they eyelids closed sideways rather than normal eyes. Then he or maybe it was a she. I couldn't really tell. Well I think by the voice it was a he. Dmitri risked a glance back and I don't think he could tell either. Anyway, the Zora made a motion with his finned arm and the others lifted their spears.

"We got in through the tunnel and we found it while exploring." Link continued

"How? Hylians have not the lung capacity to make the trip"

"Gilia" I said jumping up so that I looked over Link's shoulder for that brief moment. "I found it--- at the bottom ---of Lake Hylia"

"Did the water not blind you?"

"Saira?" Dmitri said chuckling. "She might as well be a Zora. If she could, she'd spend more time under the water than above it"

"You are still trespassers and must go before king Zora and Princess Ruto"

The spears lowered again and Link pushed me farther behind. The Zoras came up behind and forced us up a long stairway. I thought it was sweet how Link and Dmitri forced me to walk between them. Finally we reached the top and my first impression of their King was a fat sleeping toad. A younger Zora was standing next to him. If I had to guess I'd say she was about Link's age and probably Princess Ruto.

"Ahem" the leader of the 5 Zoras grunted.

The king awoke with a start when the younger one elbowed him.

"What is it Myer?"

"Trespassers" he said stepping aside to reveal us.

Ruto got wide eyed and ran down the ramp on the side toward where we stood. She threw her arms around Link and hugged him tightly. Then she backed up confused apparently by the fact that my brother didn't hug back.

"Link? Are you okay?" Ruto looked at him but he glanced at me as if he thought she was crazy as hell. "Saira? You too?"

I in turn glanced at Dmitri.

"What is going on? Goddess, I highly doubt you, Dmitri, of all people, could forget."

But suddenly she got wide eyed again and slapped her webbed hands over her mouth.

"You mind telling us what's going on?" Dmitri said

"Uh nothing." Ruto said. "Myer, why don't you find someone to get rooms for our guests?"

"Guests? Princess, they are trespassing on our lands"

"Myer" Ruto said firm and very snobby princess-like. "Find them a place to stay"

Myer nodded and bid us to follow. Link put me in the middle again in severe distrust of Myer because of his attitude. They led us to what looked to me a bare wall along a shallow area of foot deep water. But then for a moment I thought Myer had just walked through the wall. It's almost indescribable. There was an opening but it blended in such a way that if you didn't know it was there, you never would have found it.

Link outstretched his hand expecting to hit a wall but all of us went through just fine. I looked back once farther inside and there was a rectangular opening visible from my current view. I smiled and turned back seeing a hall of rooms. Myer took us to one large one and said that Zora's Domain was open to us except for what lay behind the gate of the throne.

The room itself was interesting. The walls still had the eerie glow as if water was flowing down it at all times. Most everything was created out of coral or shells. It was all very fishy but didn't smell like it as much as you'd think it would. I'd have to say I really liked it.

"So, what do you think the princess was going on about?" Link asked "She knew our names and acted like she knew us"

"Don't know. Don't care" I said

"Hi" Ruto squeaked appearing in the doorway.

"Hi"

"Hello"

"Yo" Dmitri said ending our responses.

"I hope these accommodations will do" Ruto said

"Yeah, they should" Link said at a loss for words. I rolled my eyes.

"What's with the big fish guy? He wasn't so friendly" Dmitri said

If looks could kill Dmitri would be a pile of ash of the floor because Ruto took high offense to his comment.

"Zoras are not fish. And it could be your horrendous behavior"

"My horrendous behavior? Look here you prissy little princess, your little minion is the one who wanted to punish us for nothing."

"I'm about to side with him. Your conduct before royalty is atrocious."

Link leaned on me while Dmitri and Ruto dished out insults at each other for a good quarter hour. It was quite entertaining for my brother and me but eventually Ruto stormed out and Dmitri puffed up proudly from getting the last word in.

"Well that was fun" I said. "Let's go swimming"

"Saira we just swam for two hours through a 3 by 3 tunnel and you want to go swimming?" Link said irritated

"Yeah" I said smiling sweetly and heading out. But this time they didn't follow but collapsed on the large water bed provided.

I trudged through the water and to where the larger pool like area was. I could tell where the deeper areas were because the water was darker blue and it mainly did that around where the waterfall joined the pool. I was leaning over the edge when Ruto suddenly popped up out of nowhere.

"Goddess dammit!" I swore falling back into the water. Ruto got up and got a weird expression on her face when I started laughing.

"You've certainly changed" Ruto said floating there

"Changed? I've never been any different" I said

"Right"

I swear it's like the whole world knew something but me and Link and well Dmitri too but that's not the point. Plus everything I do, I feel like I've don't something similar already. Ruto wasn't so bad after awhile. She sure went off about Dmitri a few times but other than that she wasn't the prissy little princess I expected. Mind you she was still very regal and tradition oriented but seemed more relaxed in my company. Eventually she had to go attend to royal business and I was left floating alone.
