Okay I'm not sure if it did this for everyone but when I first updated this chapter it stopped mid sentence and didnt have the rest of the chapter up. I dont know if it was just my screen so I'm redoing it.
"HEY! SAIRA!"
"Go away. I'm not awake yet," I groaned refusing to open my eyes. I don't feel the sun on my back so it must still be early.
"SAIRA!"
I rolled over and right onto a sharp rock. I immediately got up and rubbed it.
"Ow." I pouted before noticing Link still sleeping soundly. Angry that he was happy and I wasn't I ran my finger up his back and he scrambled awake and then got his feet caught in his blanket so that he tripped and fell into the river. "He he"
"Saira! What the hell are you doing?"
"You shouldn't talk like that around me. What would Vienne say?" I said digging around in my bag for a mirror. I should really start learning how to summon items. It would be much easier.
"Is Vienne here? Ugh, can you at least help me out?"
"You got yourself in you can get yourself out" I said. "Where's Dmitri?"
"SAIRA!"
I looked around but I couldn't see Dmitri anywhere.
"Link, I think I'm hearing voices"
"Wouldn't surprise me," he said pulling himself on shore.
"SAIRA! I'M BEHIND THE WATERFALL!"
I shook my head. "WHAT!"
Suddenly a dark blur joined the crisp water in the fall splashing into the river below. A few seconds later Dmitri's smiling face popped up.
"There's a ladder behind the falls and a small cave thing like in Zora's Domain. Found this up there."
Dmitri threw a small heart shaped glass trinket to me. I caught it and noticed another small heart shaped red piece in the center.
"Any idea what it is?" he asked
"Not a clue. I've read hundreds of books but don't expect me to remember it all offhand."
"It's known as a heart piece. The person who carries it is said to be less prone to physical harm or diseases," Link said wringing out his hat.
Dmitri and I both stared at him dumbstruck. He rolled his eyes.
"Don't look so surprised. Other people know things too. I talked to some Gerudos and one of them had one."
"You guys done exploring this place?" I asked thinking that was probably the greatest thing we were going to find here. And I was right.
"Um, we have a problem" Dmitri said coming back from his own exploration as I stayed behind to pack up.
"What?"
"The path back is blocked."
"What?" I repeated
"Big boulder seems to have fallen," he said.
"So now what?"
"Where does the river lead?" Dmitri asked.
"To Lake Hylia" I said before Link could pull out a map. "What good does that do, though? The current will suck us under the water. We'll all drown and I don't see a boat anywhere around here."
Dmitri walked over and found a flat rock. "Work your magic love"
"Excuse me?" I said. "What am I supposed to do with a flat rock?"
"Make it into a boat."
"Get me a piece of wood or a leaf, not a rock. Wood floats, rocks don't," I said rolling my eyes.
They found a bush and handed me the thinnest twig. I walked over there myself and got a leaf and then I said a spell to make it large enough for all of us to sit in it. But I wasn't sure how well it would stay together so I got some sticks and created a base for it. After I was done we had a sturdy leaf boat and I was quite proud of my instant creation.
"Does anybody know how to raft?" I asked
"Not a clue"
"Ditto"
"Great. I call middle"
They both groaned and we stepped in the little boat.
"Uh, we don't have any paddles." Dmitri pointed out.
I got two sticks and did the same little charm connecting them with enlarged leaves to make paddles. Then we pushed off. I don't think I stopped screaming when the rapids began and I'm sure I didn't stop until the simple little boat reached a straight bit.
"I am wet! Cold! And hoarse!" I yelled
"Well whose fault it that?" Dmitri said smiling as he shook his head sending water droplets everywhere. "I wanna do that again!"
"Yeah, me too" Link agreed.
I ducked.
"Saira?"
"Here's your chance" I said in my ducked form.
"Woooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo!" they yelled while I cowered in the middle.
"Saira! Quit being a wimp!" Dmitri yelled.
"WIMP!" I yelled suddenly mad. "Who you callin' a wimp!"
I rose my head up and kept my eyes closed for a brief moment until I felt Dmitri's arms around me.
"Link keep us steady!" Dmitri called "Alright" he began quietly in my ear. "Now open your eyes"
Slowly I did and gasped at the rushing waters before me. Our boat hit a wave and I gave a short scream but that only made Dmitri tighten his grip. The river's water started getting faster and faster.
"Lake Hylia straight ahead!" Link called. "C'mon Dmitri, full speed!"
Dmitri let me go and started paddling with Link so that we were going so fast my hair was whipping behind me. Then I realized what they were planning. We went flying over the miniature waterfall into the lake. While airborne Dmitri grabbed me around the waist again and we jumped out of the boat. More screams escaped my lips until we went splashing into the water.
I was the first to come above water and I couldn't control myself because I started laughing. Dmitri was next and he spit out a mouthful of water before swimming over to me. Link came up right between us and we all floated there laughing for no apparent reason.
That was how the remainder of our day was spent. We threw our belongings on shore and just swam around. It was nice to feel cool water against my skin rather than the harsh sweltering heat of the Gerudo Valley sand. I knew one day we'd go back. Dmitri most of all. When I took a small on the shore, my mind dwelled about such things.
Would Dmitri and I still complete all our plans? We wanted to see the whole of Hyrule but I'd read of other worlds and we wanted to see them too. Link was content with just Hyrule and merely wanted to settle down somewhere. But now I found myself thinking about what would happen if our wants changed. I didn't want to go separate ways but I feared that'd be the case one day.
I forgot such things when my boys ambushed me. Hours slipped away and soon we resorted to stargazing and constellation creating. We had many a night like that for we stayed at Lake Hylia for an extended period of time. I got to see Mr. Ely again and we all got to listen to Bonooru and Pierre's wild stories. This time we even went to the fishing hut. Dmitri and Link both caught 18-pound fish. The owner was shocked and gave them both gold Zora scales. Where he got them I've no clue but they were absolutely amazing.
We stopped counting the days after a while but we knew about what the time was due to the increasing chill in the air. We knew winter was still several months off but fall was approaching. Unfortunately our winter clothes and regular clothes for that matter were quickly becoming short and un-wearable. I used magic to extend them until we could get some new stuff. We'd have to go to Castletown or Kakariko Village to get the best deals but we'd need to go quick before we'd keep procrastinating and finally be tracking in two-foot deep snow.
So the next day after, I'm guessing about two months had passed, we were heading out across Hyrule Field. What probably should have taken no more than a couple of days took us a good week and a half. We just had to stop and have a little fun along the way. I still found it extremely entertaining how both Link and Dmitri would get all serious and mature as we approached Lon Lon Ranch. We walked in at sunset and immediately Link was happy when he saw 'Zee's' white horse running around in the pen.
Dmitri knew Malon would be there and I know he'd want to show off his wonderful scimitar. He babied that thing so much when he wasn't sparring with Link. I put a magical barrier on their swords so they didn't kill each other. Dmitri was so proud of his scimitar and just as Nabooru said he practiced all the time whenever we weren't doing things. I admired his dedication.
"Hey guys!" Zee called from around the fence of the riding pen. She and Malon looked as if they had been racing. I watched the gag-worthy chivalrous act as Link and Dmitri helped them off their horses.
"It's been so long. Where have you been to this time?" she continued happily.
"No place new. We've been running between two places." I answered.
"We've got much to tell though," Link said
"Loads" Dmitri added unable to take his eyes off the redheaded Malon.
They walked off and I don't think they even noticed they left me behind. But in all truth I didn't mind. I went over to the riding pen and whistled a tune. I never knew where I learned it but every time I came to Lon Lon ranch it was the one song that brought over the horse Epona to me.
As sure enough the beautiful red haired, white mane horse trotted over to me. I hung my bag on the fence and mounted up on Epona. I jumped a few hurdles then took her around the track once or twice before I saw Talon come out smiling under his bushy mustache. I rode over to him.
"I saw Link and Dmitri and knew you wouldn't be far," he said with a small chuckle.
"I cant go anywhere without them."
"I don't know about you but I think they fancy the girls a bit"
"I think so too."
"It's a shame though. Link ain't got much for Zelda…. uh, I mean, oh no, her father will—, you didn't hear that" Talon said stuttering. Apparently Zelda was supposed to be a secret.
"I already knew," I said simply. "I get visions"
Talon sighed but then he gave a hearty laugh.
"Visions, huh? What I hear there's only one Seer left. A little lass like you couldn't be her" he said.
"Why not?" I asked, "Not all Seers are grown up. They have to start somewhere."
"I thought Zelda was a Seer of some sorts"
"Only to help Link on his journeys but now that he's done and I'm all that's left. I guess I'm destined for more," I said.
I knew Talon didn't believe me, but it didn't really bother me. I finished riding and put Epona away like Talon asked me too. I even stayed to brush her and take care of her. I talked to Epona as if she were a person and I swear she understood because she seemed to nicker at all the right times.
Suddenly the door opened and a laughing couple of Malon and Dmitri came in. They saw me though and suddenly stopped.
"Oh, hi Saira" Malon said.
I didn't say a word but shook my head and walked out. Once outside I could hear Zee and Link on the roof stargazing. That used to be what him and me did. Dmitri too. 11 and already girls are all Dmitri can think about. It's different for Link. He's 15 and deserves to have a girlfriend even if she is a princess. But now, what do I have? Epona? I'm kinda alone now.
