I'm so mean to my characters. Hehe.
Sounds like water. Like I'm back at Lake Hylia next to the water listening to it hit the shore. Its so peaceful. Oh crap, I am dead.
"You're not dead" a voice so sweet I could barely believe it was anything but an angel.
"Saira, wake up" a voice pleaded. I know that voice.
"Link?" I asked in a whisper as my voice didn't seem to be working properly.
"Thank the Goddesses, she's alive." he said as I opened my eyes blinking madly at any light,.even though there was barely any.
"Oh my Goddess, Saira! Don't you ever pull that shit again! If you do! Agh!" Dmitri rambled, practically jumping on me and hugging me tight.
"You big oaf! Get off!" I yelled. Link came over and pulled him off me.
"What the bloody hell happened? And why does it always happen to me?"
"You almost died that's what!" Dmitri said mixed with anger and relief. "You cant do that to me Saira!"
"Ugh, I must've fallen nearly a hundred feet." I groaned surprisingly not in all that much pain. "How am I not dead?"
"Well, that's what we were wondering too. We went back down and carried you back up and came in here. We weren't sure what to do and we were losing you. I started playing my ocarina because when you were younger I used to play it for you and it usually helped. Then all of a sudden she popped out of the water"
I finally got a look around. The room was marbled floors with walls that looked as though colored water were flowing down in a constant stream. Right behind me was a found with two statues and two steps with a gold embedded Triforce in the marble step. Water filled the hexagonal fountain but floating above was a being of such, well I'm not sure if I'd call it beauty but magnificence that couldn't be ignored.
The Great Faery that floated above the water had hair of bright pink that almost made your eyes cross to look at it. She was scantily dressed with a skin tight dress of vines embroidery. Boots were laced up to match the dress. A constant glow seemed to surround her and hypnotized you.
"You saved me?"
"I did. You're far too crucial to this world" the Great Faery said in an all-knowing tone. "We cant afford to lose you because of you three's endless and incessant curiosity"
We couldn't help but smirk at that comment.
"Well Saira, I already granted you a grand gift of letting you live. So for you Link I present the same gift I did in your previous life. A spell in a bottle" she said smiling. "Din's Fire."
"That'll be useful whenever I'm not around to start a fire for you" I smirked again
"You'll never be rid of us Saira, don't you know that" Link said
"So, beautiful, whatcha got for me?" Dmitri asked and the Faery seemed flattered by his words.
"Hmm, what to give the great Dmitri Alonde. There is really nothing I can give you that would do you any good. I shall give you this"
A blinding light appeared forcing us to look away and when we could again a small chain dangled off her delicate finger with a charm on the end I'd never seen before.
"What is it?" I asked curiously.
"You will learn one day its hidden powers and when that day comes it shall be marvelous" the Great Faery said.
"How did I know you'd be giving a vague answer like that? Oh right because all higher beings do that" I said in my own all-knowing manner"
"Some things are best learned of one's own accord" the Great Faery said. "You have a future together, the two of you do" she said toward Dmitri and I. "Together great things will come. One day you will become the heroes you were meant to be"
"We already are heroes" I pointed out. "I mean I even died for a little bit"
"That was a different life. There is still much left for you to do before you will be free, Saira. You connect worlds together with that trinket you carry. Use the wisdom in you to help where needed"
Suddenly the entire cave was doused in white light and when it left we were staring at the fountain with no Great Faery.
"C'mon you guys. Time to go" Link said leading us out. We followed but I paused at the entrance and heard one last thing in my head.
'He needs your guidance Saira. He's not ready'
We climbed back with finding Raus outside the cave. We took our time through Death's Row since my barrier was up and headed back to Goron City. We stayed there for another week or two but it wasn't Link who was so insistent but Dmitri. The night before we'd decided to go back, I found him in the ledge suspended above the city where the Goron's Ruby used to be situated. I liked the challenged of getting out to the ledge. I cheated though since Link was right and I had little to no balance. I just iced over the rope and made it wider so I could just slide down since it was slightly angled. Dmitri sat playing with his scimitar. I hated when he did that with how sharp it was but he was so good with I don't know why I worry.
"You been up here all day?" I asked
He nodded
"You gonna tell me what's wrong or do I have to beat it out of you?"
"You don't have the heart to beat it out of me"
"True. Don't make me put together a truth potion. I learned way too much the last time I tried that. That last thing I needed to know was how you got frisky with Malon–"
"Okay!" he relented. "That was a dirty trick, y'know?"
"Taught you not to lie to me" I said proudly
"I don't want to go back down"
"I figured that much out since we've been here for 2 and a half weeks since the Great Faery. My question is why don't you want to go back?"
"Because I don't want to face my dad"
"Face him"
"I want to yell at him" he burst suddenly. "I never really questioned my parents past mainly because, no offense, I thought it'd be pretty freaking boring. Little did I know my dad was a Sheikah and my mum ain't even from this world. I mean, there's a lot of tradition and cool things I could have been a part of. Not to mention what my mum's side of the family is like. There are things they kept from me that they shouldn't have."
"Can you blame him? He's probably ashamed"
"That's his shame! What about me? I used to tell him all the time how I wish he knew cooler stuff that picking locks. I mean I know its one of my favorite talents but he's a bloody Sheikah. They're so skilled in just about everything. I'd love to be apart of that"
"I get that. I really do. But I'm sure he's got an explanation. Keep that in mind, okay?"
"Thanks Saira...so what do you think the Great Faery meant about me and you?"
"I dunno. Guess we'll find out" I smiled leaning up against the slab on the ledge. Dmitri laid down with his head in my lap. I found myself wondering what could be in store for us, and I think Dmitri is too cause we remained in silence before we fell asleep waking hours later to Link saying it was time to go.
The trek down the trail was easier than going up it the weeks before. I still don't know what happened to the Dodongo king. This sounds gross but there was enough meat on it to feed the Gorons for the while if they like Dodongo meat.
Kakariko Village came into view and we hadn't gone more than two steps before someone recognized us and yelled out. "The Dodongo Killers!" and people began swarming toward us asking us all kinds of stupid questions. Finally we managed to appease the crowd not to mention Vienne was waiting by the door and ready to slam it shut for those who wouldn't go away.
"They've been pounding on our door day and night" she said exasperated. "You three always were experts at pointing all the attention at yourselves"
"It's not like we do it on purpose" Dmitri sighed dropping onto the couch. Link sat next to him and I sprawled across them.
"Oh yes, you didn't purposely release the Dodongo from Dodongo Cavern"
"You don't understand, we were trapped"
"Oh yes, I'm sure there was a huge cave in and that was the only way out" she said sarcastically going into the kitchen to fix dinner for us all.
We all just started laughing since that's exactly what happened. We settled into a game of cards while Vienne cooked. Stu wasn't back yet. I'm not sure what he's doing nowadays but it takes up a lot of time apparently. Dinner was served and we all ate and laughed filling in Vienne on our latest exploits. A few she questioned their validity but at least one of us had some sort of scar to show for it.
Right when dinner was over Stu walked in the house. Dmitri immediately stopped laughing at one of our stories and excused himself going by his dad without saying a word. Link stretched and left me with the explanation going up to his room as well though he said hello to Stu before he went.
"Alright Saira, spill" Vienne sighed.
"Yeah, what was that all about?" Stu asked taking a seat as Vienne fixed him a plate.
"Well, you know how Nabooru's a sage and all and kinda knows all about everything?" I started
They nodded.
"Uh, yeah so she knows that you're a Sheikah and you're from Middle-Earth"
Stu immediately choked on a piece of food and then looked at me in shock..
"He's a bit put out with you not telling him because no offense, but one of Dmitri's dreams as a kid was to be an honorary Sheikah or a hero of some sort. Then he finds out he's got the blood of the Sheikah and could have been training a way long time ago. I hope you have a good reason for keeping such a big thing like that from him otherwise you'll have an angry Dmitri for a long time. I know this may sound a bit selfish but I spend more time with him than you do so I'd rather you fix it"
"It wasn't her place to tell" he burst angrily much like Dmitri. "Bloody sages."
"Stu, honey, you need to go talk to him"
He began muttering incoherently as he trudged up the stairs. Link immediately came down.
"I don't really know what the beef is but I don't want to be around. I've only seen Dmitri angry once and once was enough"
"Too true" I agreed. We all sat in silence hearing nothing at first until muffled yells began. It was like we'd all stopped breathing as we tried to decipher the muffled sounds from above. A few things crashed and Vienne winced as though she knew what it was.
"There goes the vase" she sighed. The next thing to crash sounded like a door slamming shut and breaking off the hinges and sure enough Dmitri came down the stairs, face red and a look of fury on his face I dared not soothe at the present time. I'd give him a few minutes. He went out the front door slamming the door so hard the glass window beside it cracked.
"Saira, go" Link said immediately.
I didn't need to be told as I bolted off after him. Damn Gerudo training though made him practically invisible. But Dmitri is my best friend and if anyone can find him, its me. He has a thing for roofs and heights whenever he's frustrated about things. And sure enough I saw him scaling the windmill trying to get to the top. I ran that way and quietly made my way up the top to wait for him. I laid down on the roof and looked up at the stars. When I heard his profanities I knew he was just about there. He lost his grip when he saw me at the top. I grabbed his hand and pulled him up.
"You should be more careful"
He tossed my hand away once he got situated. "Go away Saira. Not now"
"Don't you dare, Dmitri. Don't you dare" I said firmly. Almost instantly his eyes softened apologetically but the anger didn't leave. "Fine, you want to be like that" I said starting to climb down. I got just out of view before making it sound like I was still climbing. Five, four, three, two.
"Saira!" he said getting quiet real quick when he saw I hadn't moved hardly at all. He helped me back up and then heaved a sigh. "How does he expect me not to be mad!"
"I don't know what happened Dmitri. Gotta fill me in"
"He comes up there and is like 'what's wrong?' so I told him and he tries giving me some bullshit excuses that it was for the best and I said that it shoulda been my decision and he said I'm too indecisive and would probably get myself into a commitment I would regret and he was doing it with the best in mind for me. I called him out and said that Sheikan training is just training and there's no commitment till you're finished. I know that because you taught me that. Then he says that the rules could have changed and he didn't want me to be restrained, then I said if he could handle it so could I, then he said that I don't have the discipline for the Sheikan ways, and I said I would have made a better Sheikah than him anyway and ran out"
All this was said very quick but I caught every word.
"Did you try to explain that the Gerudo have taught you a lot"
"Well he said something about how I a disgrace the Sheikan ways just associating myself with the Gerudo and that I never should have gone there to begin with."
"He didn't have any reason to say that" I admitted thinking that was very un-Stu-like. For several hours he vented and I gave my two cents and had him calmed down by the time the moon was halfway across the sky.
"I could have done it y'know. I mean if I can gain the Gerudos respect shouldn't I have been able to become a Sheikah. You know, I should try. I should go up and say its my birthright and demand to become one. They cant reject me"
"I've never heard of any Sheikah being denied if they passed the tests." I assured. "The Sheikah are here. Remember Zee said that they are in the catacombs under Kakariko, but we should just go see Impa, the leader of the Sheikah. She lives in the big house on the other side of town."
"That'll be our adventure for tomorrow" he said finally smiling. "Thanks for coming after me, and sorry I snapped at you"
"I don't like seeing you like that Dmitri, understand?"
"Yeah, love, I understand."
"So you think you and your dad are gonna be reconciling any time soon"
"Hell no. I'm not talking to him until he can admit he was wrong" he said so firmly I didn't dare question its truth.
