Haruka and his name
Disclaimer: Usual disclaimer attached.
Rating: G or K
Genre: General, minor angst
Warnings or notes: Nothing much actually for such rating. But there is manga spoiler! Grammar and other errors, one-shot and it is short (400+ words only), very little detail on one-sided Yuri and Haruka, and without a real plot actually. I hope it's not OOC…
Just a little thing crossed my mind when I was reading the manga (volume 5-Mandarin version). It sounds familiar, but I am not copying anyone's fictions. If you find it that way, I might as well give my apologies to the similarities.
Anyhow, kindly leave a review if you like the shortness of the story (I might do another) and other comments/critiques as you see fit. Enjoy!

Haruka breathed in deeply. 'Haruka' was what Ichinomiya Kantaro named him. He did not think of it at first. But when someone mentioned it, he finally realized. It sounded too much like a girl's name. And he had hated it. He hated people said it sounded girlish, and he hated how Kantaro purposely called his name to annoy him.
However, when Yuri, who adored the tengu and handed him a present, saying she gave to him because it was related to his name, he refused to accept it. The tengu had rejected the gift at once, asking her not to give her anything related to his name. He had yet to understand why he reacted so strongly to a simple thing.
"I am glad that you gave me this name," he had admitted that he actually felt grateful for the name to Kantaro. He did not know why would he say such thing, but it was true nonetheless.
The mortal's reaction was a smile. "So you finally find yourself liking the name?" Kantaro asked with the smile still on his child-like face despite his real age.
And Haruka was silent at the reply. He hated this name. He thought this name was not suitable for him. But now he realized…he was the one who was not suitable for this name. The name 'Haruka'…was a great name. Indeed, he hated this name because…he found it too great to be his name. He was not the amazing Onikui Tengu anymore. He was just a lame tengu…
"Am I suitable for this name?" he found himself asking in a low tone.
Kantaro's smile faded slowly, but it was quickly replaced by another warm smile. "Haruka is Haruka…," was the simple answer he received. "And Haruka will always be Haruka," he added, closing his crimson eyes.
Haruka took a glance at Kantaro without a word. 'Haruka' was really a nice name. And now, he did not think it sounded girlish anymore. He did not find it annoying to be called by Kantaro anymore. Most importantly, he did not hate it anymore. Deep within, he was glad. He was glad to be given with such a grand name. And to be named by a mortal by the name of Ichinomiya Kantaro was not a bad thing either.
"Haruka will always be Haruka…" For this, the black tengu smiled. 'Aa…Onikui tengu might not smile for such thing, but 'Haruka' might…and would…'
"Thank you," was his reply. The rare genuine smile was still on his charming face. Upon seeing so, Kantaro's crimson eyes glowed with happiness.
"You are always welcome, Haruka."
: The End :
Yup, short and without a plot lol! I am in mood to write something short like this nyu. :laughs: If anyone thinks it is a bit shonen-ai related, I must say 'I don't mind for the thought' although it is not really related to shonen-ai. :chuckles: Thanks for reading anyway, and hope those who like short stories would find this worth spending time on!
