Chapter 5-His Motivation
I saw Puu flying down. What the hell is he doing? I asked myself.
"So, Toguro," I heard Puu saying in Genkai voice. "You want to see Yusuke's real power?"
I looked at her strangely. What the hell is she talking about?
"You have to kill one of his friends," she said in a matter of fact voice. "Make sure he's watching."
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" I yelled. "You told me to commit to something all the way and I chose my friends. Now, you say that killing one of them is motivation?"
Genkai slapped Yusuke with Puu's ear. "Damn it, Yusuke," she yelled. "If one friend goes down to unlock that potential, then that sacrifice is worth it."
Someone did a mini attack so we would stop talking.
What the hell was that? I asked myself.
"I had that idea a while back," he said, "but I didn't like the way it felt. You heard me what I said awhile back. If that's what it unlocks your potential, then I'll do it." He looked back at my friends.
"Don't do this," I had said.
He smirked. "I choose you, Kuwabara," Toguro said. "Urameshi does seem the most protective of you."
He had to pick the last one I wanted dead. He had to choose Kuwabara.
"No," I yelled when I got over my shock.
Toguro kept walking over to my friends and teammates. I kept punching him, but he couldn't feel the pain I wanted to inflict. The way he inflicted pain on me when he killed Genkai.
Toguro threw me up against the wall without much effort. I threw up some of my blood as I concentrated on pushing the pain away.
Then I saw Kuwabara charging at Toguro at full speed with his spirit sword in hand.
"Kuwabara! No!" I had yelled, but I don't remembering doing so.
Toguro pressed his hand into Kuwabara's vitals. Then just as easily he took his hand away.
"Ok, Urameshi. It's all you. I did what I could now beat him for all of us. Make my death count, ok?" Kuwabara asked after when he took his last breath of living and finally collapse.
Then I saw Kurama, Koenma, and surprisingly enough Hiei, as well, ran up to him.
My knees fell to the floor after I saw him collapse. Then my hands were next. I got up so quick and somehow I got from one place to another in a blink of an eye.
How could I have let that happen to him? I thought. He's been my best friend. Sure we ragged on each other quite a bit, but that's we do.
"First, you took my teacher," I said without even thinking. "Then, I let you take my friend. What the hell do you want from me?"
I slumped down a little and wallowed in my thoughts.
"Urameshi," Kuwabara said in a memory, "I'm going to mess up your face so that the kittens wouldn't even look at you."
"Yukina!" Kuwabara had said another memory with the dopey goofy look whenever Yukina's name is mentioned or whenever he sees her.
"Make my death count, Yusuke," Kuwabara had said in my last memory.
That's right before he died, I thought. That one was right before he died. That's when I kind of snapped out of it.
