"Mariano", the Sergeant hollowed from his office.
"What Chief?" He replied, leaning back in his chair, just getting a glimpse of his superior.
"I've got a new case for you".
"Oh goodie", Jess harped back, but not loud enough to be heard. Getting up, he walked into the Sergeants quarters. "I thought I was on desk dusty after my last . . . ". He was cut of bluntly.
"You were, and you can go back if you don't want to do this. I'm sure Hamilton would love to be all over this case if you can't get your ass into gear".
"No. No. I'm good". He didn't want to go back to the mountain of paperwork that was gathering at his desk. Picking up the file that laid on his desk, the Chief looked it over.
"This is fairly straight forward. Kidnapping case that has been going on for a few years. Suspect had been found but not apprehended. She was spotted after a name check was completed".
"And how did we get one of those?"
"She applied for a lone with her hubby. They normally run credit checks". Mariano nodded, taking the folder his Superior dropped in front of him. "And Mariano, don't mess this one up. Or else you're going to be on a desk job for the rest of your life". Walking out of the office, Jess was already skimming through the file.

Picking up his jacket that hung over his chair, Jess grabbed his keys and headed towards his car. This case should be a piece of cake, he thought to himself. "Tell the 16 year old that she has been kidnapped, bring her back here for questioning, get the mother brought up on charges, notify the boyfriend that we have located his daughter. A piece of Fn cake".
