Hello everyone! This is my first fic. Just a fluffy, angsty oneshot. Please R&R! Thanks!
Oh! I almost forgot:
Disclaimer: If I owned the Harry Potter series, let's just say I wouldn't write fanfiction about my own work. In other words, I don't own it
.
Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it rekindles the great.

"Ginny."
She knew that voice. The voice that had haunted her for 5 years. The voice that lifted her heart with anticipation, then mercilessly dropped it to the depths of disappointment. Oh yes, she knew that voice. The voice of Harry Potter, the boy who lived and the only boy she had ever loved.
She whipped around to face his intense emerald eyes, tears stinging her own. She knew this would happen for quite some time, she had just always pushed it out of her mind. There was enough grief to deal with as is.
"You've been avoiding me ever since the funeral, Ginny. And don't lie to me. I know you have, as I have you."
"Well, what am I – are we – supposed to say to each other? I have nothing to say to you, knowing that I can't have you!"
He said nothing, he just gazed at her, pure sorrow in his eyes. She knew he didn't want to leave, but she still couldn't help being angry at him.
They continued to stare at each other, just letting their emotions become evident through their eyes, letting each other know exactly how they felt. Finally, he spoke, and as he spoke, his voice cracked, and his eyes filled with tears.
"You could at least say goodbye to me."
Ginny had never seen Harry cry, and it broke her heart just watching him. Finally, she slowly, softly walked up to him, never breaking their gaze.
"This is my goodbye."
And with that, she reached up before her Gryffindor courage failed her and kissed him.
She kissed him, letting all her passion, her fiery nature, all of her pent-up feelings into that one kiss. He soon returned it in the same way.
After literally five minutes, they broke apart. Ginny couldn't find the will to meet his gaze, all her energy gone.
"Harry, I know I shouldn't have, but-"
"Shh," he whispered, and he tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze yet again. "I didn't know how much I needed that."
And with that, he smiled his first genuine smile since Dumbledore's funeral. And, with the wink that he always knew Ginny found charming, he walked out the front door of the burrow and, followed by Ron and Hermione, mounted his broom.
He made to kick off, but hesitated. He turned, looking at Ginny with so much affection, so much longing, and yet no longer sorrow, that he made Ginny silently cry, half of sorrow and half of joy. He smiled again and purposefully pushed off, as if he had to make himself, and soared into the air.
Ginny watched him go until he was a speck in the sky. And she knew, then, that they had given each other the exact goodbye they wanted.
So there you are! I know its rubbish, but please review anyway! Thanks again!
