This is a story about Magenta finding out something has happened to one of her friends and her other pals comforting her. There's none of the other AD characters in this, but I hope it's ok, just the same. It was based on an actual event where we had to put down my dog, Smokey.
Magenta sat on her porch with her head in her paws. Her friend, Smokey had just died, and she was really sad. All she could think about was the times when they had used to pick flowers, and play tag or tug-of-war.
"Why, oh why did he have to die?" Magenta whispered aloud, as another tear slid down her face.
Just then, Magenta's friends, Molly,a pretty brown and white pup, Fluffy, a white wolf, & Flirt, a pink & light pink pup, came walking up the sidewalk. They looked and saw Magenta on her porch, crying. Wondering what was up, they all ran up to her.
Molly put her paw on Magenta's shoulder.
"Why are you crying?" she asked.
Magenta's head shot up. She hated to be seen crying, so she tried to act normal.
"I'm not crying." She lied, and dried her tears.
Flirt looked at Magenta's tear stained face.
"You've been crying." she replied.
Fluffy sat down next to Magenta and put her arm around her.
"What's up? You can tell us."
Magenta sniffled sighed sadly.
"My friend Smokey just died last night..."
"Ohmygosh!" Molly cried out. "I'm so sorry!"
Flirt gasped. "I had heard rumors about Smokey being dead, but I didn't know if I should believe them or not."
She gave Magenta a big hug.
"I'm so sorry!"
Fluffy also hugged Magenta.
"Anytime you need a friend we're here for you, Magenta!"
Magenta looked at her friends and gave them a warm smile.
"Thanks you guys. think I feel better now. I'm lucky to have such great friends like you guys!"
"Don't mention it, 'Genta!" Molly exclaimed, and gave her friend a hug.
"Yeah." Fluffy and Flirt agreed. "That's what friends are for!"
Fluffy smiled broadly and spread out her arms.
"I feel a group hug coming on!" she cried.
Normally, Magenta would've been a tad bit annoyed, but after everything she'd gone through, she could use a good group hug! Laughing, she joined her friends in what seemed like the biggest, tightest group hug they'd ever had!
'I'm so lucky to have friends like these.' Magenta thought as she looked around at all her pals. Sue knew that there would be many more challenges in her life, and she would overcome them. She knew that if she ever lost her strength and fell, her good friends Molly, Fluffy & Flirt would always be there to lift her back up.
"'Cause that's what friends are for." Magenta quietly said aloud, and squeezed her pals with every ounce of strength she had.
"What's what friends are for?" Flirt asked.
"Helping each other through our times of need." Magenta replied. "Everytime one of us has had a problem, the rest of us have always been right there to help guide them!"
Molly nodded her head.
"That's true." She hugged Magenta.
"And with friends like you guys, Magenta said, I'm the richest pup in the world."
