the Fallen Night
He's defeated and fallen but she sits by his side, silently. He doesn't want to be comforted by her, not by anyone, but that is exactly what she does without a word and he doesn't realise it. Her silence is just what he needs because he hates sympathetic words almost as much as he hates life.
The others are somewhere else (they don't even know where) and so they are alone in the library. The night has already fallen outside the large windows and soon it will be completely dark. She once told him that she liked day much better than night and he was not at all surprised and had thought it an obvious thing. No one likes the night anymore.
They are comrades - in arms? - and she's his new best friend and he admires her secretly for unknown reasons. He says something about the falling night quietly and she turns to look at him and replies softly.
Yes.
She seems different when they're alone (just the two of them) even though she's exactly the same. He wants to tell her how sorry he is and that all he wants is just to be forgiven. But he can't forgive himself and doesn't know how they would be able to forgive him if he can't. There are so many things he doesn't know. She's beautiful in her own way and he wants to reach out and touch her hair that's too short to put in a ponytail but he doesn't. There are so many things he doesn't do.
He is the fallen knight and he has lost his way. He wishes that she is the one who will help him find his way back but then he remembers how sick he is of fighting and how sick he is of not knowing what or for whom he's fighting.
Is it for the memories? Or for the Light?
They don't talk about their memories very much. Not anymore. They used to, sometimes, but that was a long time ago now. She used to speak of a mysterious person and he never understood who it was and he spoke of everything he could remember about his angel. None of them ever said a name for that would have made it harder to continue.
He's just so very tired of it all, but she comforts him by sitting by his side, because that is exactly what he needs.
