OO; My first Yamatonadeshiko Shichihenge fanfic…weird…Obviously, the characters don't belong to me…

Noi just wants to be left alone. She is beautiful, but sweet, an all-around decent person. She's not stuck up at all. Not that anyone ever takes the time to realize that fact.

Noi hasn't had many female friends. Actually, she hasn't had many friends in general; all of the guys she's tried to be friends with eventually started liking her as more-than-friends, and when she let them down—gently, of course—they'd either blown up at her, accusing her of 'leading them on' or simply stopped speaking to her.

But at least they were honest about it; girls never were. More than once she's found out—through 'concerned acquaintances'—that this friend or that friend was bad-mouthing her behind her back. Every girl she's met either thought that she was a snob, and so hated her, or tried to look better by being around her. It was sickening, so, by the time she was in high school, Noi learned not to try to make friends.

Sunako just wants to be left alone. She is creepy, but kind, even though she tries to be gruff. But, in actuality, she's a decent person. Not that anyone ever has the chance to notice it.

Sunako, even before The Rejection, hasn't had that many female friends. She's always been a little violent and a little too much of a tomboy. That, though, didn't make her popular with the boys, either. They never liked it when she beat them at sports, or schoolwork, or any of the other things she's always done so well.

So, instead, they'd call her a freak, or ugly—even though she wasn't—or whatever came to their minds at the time. The girls were the same, following the boy's lead, and so, by the time she was in high school, Sunako learned to avoid humanity.

Sunako and Noi met because Sunako happens to share a house with the boy that Noi likes. Other girls stay away from Noi because she makes them look bad; they stay away from Sunako because she scares them. But Sunako doesn't care how she looks, so Noi can't make her feel bad about herself just by existing. And Noi doesn't scare easily, so most of Sunako's antics don't bother her.

Neither of them realizes that they are friends. They know that each girl wants the other to be happy; they know that they worry about each other, but they still don't think to call each other 'friend.' Isn't that funny?
