Sigh.

The sound reverberated through the room. In the quiet atmosphere of the young teen's bedroom, the soft sound was more of a rumble in the heavens. Yugi sat slumped at his desk, arms crossed on the surface with his head resting atop, covering the homework he was supposed to be doing. Math, Biology, Physics - nothing difficult, but perhaps that was the problem. All his life Yugi had taken to burying himself in his studies, always being too small to join the sports teams, and there wasn't a subject he had any sort of trouble with. Yet as a result, he was never challenged and homework quickly became a tedious chore. The young man sighed again.

Yami looked up from the book he was reading, frowning at the back of his Light. He knew Yugi disliked homework, but never had he heard the little one sigh in such a manner. Ordinarily, Yugi would return home and, after spending some quality time with his yami, would immediately hit the books so that his homework would be out of the way and his little Light would be free for the night. While he waited, Yami would pick up a book from Grandpa's small library and read quietly on their bed until Yugi was finished. But Yugi was generally quiet while doing homework; expressing discontent was out of place. He put his book down.

"Everything all right Yugi?" he asked, walking over to his other and placing his hands on the little one's shoulders. Yugi merely buried his head.

"My life is so dull."

"How so, hikari?" he began to rub the little one's shoulders soothingly. It made Yugi lift his head, but only slightly.

"Every day is the same now. When we had the puzzle, it was like the world became this bright, vibrant place. There was always something new and different waiting for us. Now that it's all over, it seems like all the colours are gone."

Yami nuzzled his hikari's neck playfully. "Are you saying you miss all that threatening evil?"

"No!" Yugi protested, giggling in response to Yami's nuzzling. It faded quickly though. "But…with all that excitement gone, everything's just so…dull."

Yami was quiet a moment, wrapping his arms around his little Light. "Hikari, your life is not as dull as you think."

Yugi's brow furrowed. "What?"

"There are colours all around you hikari, in your friends and grandfather," he replied. The younger teen sat up and turned in his arms as he continued. "Tristan is the calm and loyal blue, Tea is the optimistic yellow, Joey is the vigorous green and your grandfather is the conservative silver. They are what makes life vibrant, my little Light."

Yugi smiled genuinely and leaned into Yami. Such words he would usually ignore as being cheesy anecdotes if they came from anyone else, but coming from the ex-pharaoh, his yami, it was somehow different. Suddenly, he frowned and sat up to look Yami in the eye.

"Wait – what colour are you?"

Yami's smile turned devilish, and he pressed a breathless kiss to Yugi's lips.

"Hurry with that homework and I'll show you."
