Mystery Creature Threatens Mandrakes

By: Paloma Verena

HOGWARTS GREENHOUSES--A legendary type of toad have invaded Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Greenhouses.

The plants most in danger are the semi-rare Mandrakes, which are the main ingredient for Unparalyzation draughts. Finwizzles, this specific type of toad, have so far harmed only the Mandrakes. It is not understood why at this point as so little is known about Finwizzles. They were previously thought not to exist.

Professor Pomona Sprout, Head of Hufflepuff House and Herbology Professor, gave us a few words on the subject: "But I'd--the mandrakes--hamminahamminahammina--" and then proceeded to hyperventilate in a fashion I had never before seen. (Worry not, she is now in excellent health.)

A few students also shared their opinion:

"Personally, I think we should just leave them be--they'll leave when they're ready. They're living creatures, too; after all, the unicorns and other creatures that were around long before us didn't shove us out and say, 'We were here first,' did they?"

--Fourth year Alexis of Hufflepuff

"Well, they're fascinating creatures, but they're destroying the Mandrakes--I'm thinking they should just export the toads from Hogwarts to another Greenhouse or Garden with many more Mandrakes; there's a limited supply at Hogwarts, isn't there?"

--Sixth year Jeanne of Ravenclaw

"I'm all for destroying them. We were here first, and they're destroying our property."

--Second year Wallace of Slytherin

"Well, I really love Herbology and I don't want the Mandrakes destroyed, and I don't like the Finwizzles, so I think we should remove them from Hogwarts somehow without hurting them."

--Fifth year Sydney of Gryffindor

Students are mainly for removing Finwizzles from the property, however, the School Board of Governors has yet to decide what course of action to take.
