The Rose
My heart longs to touch you
To feel your voice ring through my veins
To fill me up with the light of your song
But my heart has shattered into a thousand pieces
With the mirrors around me
I am as fragile as the glass in which these frames once bore
I have denied my love
As I denied your own
No longer are you imprisoned in my mind and soul
No longer shall you be kept from the world
For my pleasure alone
You're free to bloom like the rose
Ever delicate and full of beauty
Do not turn back from the light of day
Do not seek an eternity of horror
A monster holds your heart
As a rose holds my own
Neither can sustain
And both will die
Unless the monster wilts
And the rose runs free.
