A drabble which seems to be about The Princess Bride at first, but actually it isn't. Joe/Dex.

Three Magic Words

There is a book called "The Princess Bride", about a farm-boy called Westley who loved a girl called Buttercup. Westley couldn't tell Buttercup how he felt, but one day she realised when Westley replied "As you wish" to her instructions, he really meant "I love you."

Years before the book was published, there lived a man called Dex. He was a mechanic for a pilot called Joe, who he secretly loved. Dex had, of course, never read "The Princess Bride". If he had, maybe he would have noticed the way Joe looked at him when he said "Good Boy, Dex". Maybe he would have wondered.
